Nice. I have a subtle little Dead lightning bolt
For years I read that Alligator was a ‘57, though I never read any evidence to confirm this. The recent Bonhams auction ID’d it as a ‘55, as does Waldo, one of the foremost experts on this guitar. The telling fact is the serial number: 7310. This is a 1955 serial number. By ’57, Fender was up to five digit serial numbers. It also sported 1954 Alnico 3 pickups.
The article you link also incorrectly states the last time Alligator was played it was Jerry’s 30th birthday on August 1, 1973. The date is correct (I was there), but it was Jerry’s 31st birthday. He was born in 1942.
Right on. I stand corrected.
Excellent!!!!! Watch out though. Youre gonna be playing China-Rider without meaning to.
This is the Zencaster Strat. The same pin and placement is on my black-on-black Telecaster.
On my Custom Alembic Further, I had a stylized peace sign of White, Golden, and Black Tahitian MOP inlaid below the bridge. The border surrounding the peace sign is engraved "This Machine Surrounds Hate and Sings It Into Submission". (Woody Guthrie wrote "This Machine Kills Fascists" on the top of his guitar. Pete Seeger wrote "This Machine Surrounds Hate and Forces It to Surrender" on his banjo head).
