20210828_163139.jpg 20210828_162732.jpg 20210828_162743.jpg Being a young guitar fanatic in the 80s I was exposed to new and exciting music, guitars and guitar players. Over the top flair and hair. I owned a Kramer Beretta and Focus. The Nightswan though... outta my reach.

Fast forward 34 years and BAM!! The 2020 Kramer Nightswan! It's based on the '87-'88 Vivian Campbell sig.

I've owned this beauty for over a month now so I thought I'd share my opinions.

The overall build quality is amazing for a sub K guitar. Fit, finish, frets... yes! The neck has a killer profile and beautiful ebony board and very cool ping-pong inlays. Not only that, it's just a hair longer than Gibson scale!!! It boasts 2 Duncan JBs. A bridge and middle. Yes, both are absolutely usable. A single volume. I do wish it had a tone but... the 80s man.
Anyway, the only thing semi-negative thing about this guitar is the frets though perfectly level and finished ends were in dire need of polishing. Easy enough and the tuners were the tightest I've ever encountered. I thought that they might explode as I tuned her up.

Great guitar. The 80s inspired riffs just won't quit!

Ah, just noted the Gibson scale on it. That just cranked up the GAS higher. I prefer that scale length.

‘I have one I bought late last year. I did have to do some leveling and polishing as the frets were really rough. And I had to lower the nut as it was too high to play cowboy chords in tune. But once I got it dialed in it was killer! I sold my SM-1 in favor of getting another Swan in Aztec white. They are out of stock right now, so January or so, I will get another one. It is my favorite out of all the Kramer’s I’ve had, and I have had one of each in the lineup.

Oh and I did need to replace two of the tuners. Covered under warranty. And they did discount the guitar a couple hundred bucks because of all the work I had to have done to it 9I did it all myself, so getting the discount was awesome.

    Congrats and HNGD!

Very cool! I've had GAS for one of these for a while.

White would be great. Not crazy about the polka dots.

Like you, I reckon the absence of a tone control isn't ideal.

    Congratulations and enjoy!

Same here. I would like to get a Nightswan but I just don't get along with Floyds these days.

Congrats! I always wanted a Nightswan back in the day but still have yet to play one. The closest I came was playing a couple of the various Peavey Vandenberg models and the Jackson Fusions (also 24 3/4" scale length shredders) - demoed them but never owned any of them.

    Sweet!

I was really interested in the Candy Blue SM1 they brought out based off the initial promo pics… Looked just like Scotti Hills Jackson from Skid Row!

Unfortunately the production model finish was more of a dark ice blue and it put me off.

They are loaded guitars, great value!

I had one. Saw it in my local shop and loved it. Wife bought it for me for Xmas and it was awesome.

    Killer sound.
    Feel.
    Neck.
Everything was great, But the polka dots.

I returned it. Couldn't get past the dam dot's. Now, fast forward to today and like I predicted they have other finish options, which I promised myself so maybe one day if GAS hits again, I'll revisit the Nightswan. I really did love it when I had my eyes closed.

One thing it did lack was the volume knob. It went from 0-10 with no in between, real cheapo rendering any kinda 80's volume swells a no-go but that would have been a ten minute fix had I given it the chance.

Now, everything I just mentioned is my own personal demons, shallow and vain playing with my eyes not my hands and ears, breaking my own rule, and I've no excuse......

Like I said, maybe now that they have options on the finish.......hmmmmmm

    Happy NGD!!!
