Well I have had this nearly a month now so not that new. I was getting tired of my HRDx (although I do now miss it) so I decided to look for something different. I spotted this Vox AC30cc2 and pulled the trigger. I can't say if it sounds like a vintage AC30 but it sure sounds great! The 2 channels blended together sounds heavenly. Built in spring reverb and analog Tremolo sound fantastic and there are switches on the back to change the output bias and the filter cap values. This adds up to a very versatile box of sounds! I've got no where near cranking it yet, its loud!!!!!

Only a few days after I bought the amp a V212BN 2x12 cabinet came up for sale and I bought it also. I don't need it but tell me it doesn't look cool stacked like it is:D

Both the amp and cabinet are made from birch plywood and feel very sturdy. I was totally shocked by the weight of an AC30 though, its brutal:eek:. The inside of this one was really dusty but I had a great evening stripping it down and cleaning it up. Its little jobs like that I love. Here are some photos! 20190926_200554.jpg 20190914_205928.jpg 20190914_205939.jpg 20190914_210835.jpg

Thank you all! I don't think I've even scraped the surface of what I can get out of this amp yet. Good times ahead for sure:thumb:

It's true that AC30s are heavy. Even the original ones were made from 3/4" ply, including the baffle. So it's a heavy box even before you start putting transformers and magnets in them.

Even the old square single-12" AC15 was heavy.

i had one unti 6 mo ago, but as i am gigging regularly, the weight just got too much; i sold it to a mate, and got an all tube 36w combo that i can more or less get voxy tones from. I do miss the thing though, it was astonishing when put on full reheat! Didn't like pedals much though.

Great amps. Ive had a custom classic since about 2010 and i love it.
As far as not liking pedals, it likes them just fine, but certain pedals need to be in the loop.
My board has three cables coming out of it.

    Sorry for the hijack OP.

If you had to choose between your AC30 and your DSL 20 which way would you go?

    This.

My AC15C1 started giving me back problems.....so I put rollers on it.

AC30s or 15s are amazing workhorse amps heard on many of our favriote tracks.

Did you know Jimi Hendrix used Vox jn recording studios....Rolling Stones used them, the Beatles, Queen etc etc.

Many great classic tones to be had with any Vox classic or modern.

    Enjoy OP.

    This...

If I had to choose between any amp it would have to be in the AC family.

Suckers sound amazing on cleans, mid gain. And you throw a pedal or two in front of it and its got gain for days.

I either go Fuzz Face or TS stacked with Klone for my gain tones and its amazing.

Cranked its a godly tone. Even at low voumes it pushes air just the right way.

Make sure if you run that cab along with the speakers in the amp (extension) you use the 8ohm setting.

Yeah it is ridiculously heavy. If I was gigging this amp regularly it would be living in a flight case with wheels! I'm not surprised it has 3 handles lol.

The cleans are warm and bright and there is a fullness to them which is no doubt helped by the 2x12 setup. While researching this amp I read so many stories of people replacing the Wharfedale speakers straight away. I don't know why because I think these sound great. I may fit something different to the cab but only for variety. As for pedals, it takes my Wampler drive pedals really well and all delays etc. It did not get on well with my Boss OD2 though. It sounded terribly thin and harsh. A little bit of googling revealed that there is a bright cap in the top boost circuit. I removed this and all was well with the OD2 although I have the tone rolled back further than normal. The master volume does allow for some very nice bedroom level overdrive too so that's a bonus!
Yeah that did have me scratching my head for a while. This is my first amp setup with a cab so I was slightly baffled lol.

Congratulations on your NAD! Vox chime rules!
Well, some blue bulldogs might help a little bit.......
My reissue AC15 is pretty stout too, but manageable.

Just picked up an AC15 yesterday. I’m still exploring the possibilities but it sounds very nice. Congratulations on yours.
