Local seller listed a “bass amp” for $150. That’s all the info he had. Posted some poor photos and left it at that. It looked to be a fender stack I was unfamiliar with. Ending up seeing it was a 70s Fender PA 100 with a 2x15 fridge cab from the 70s. Figured it wasn’t working at that price so I took a chance. Drive 160 miles round trip and offered him an extra $20 to hold it for me. $170 later I ended up with a SUPER clean PA 100. All channels and reverb work flawlessly and it has these 4 6l6 SVT420 old Mesa coke bottle tubes that sound awesome. I’ve never seen them before. Super cool amp. Anyone know about them or know if they’re worth keeping? I really like the sound. Thanks guys!

A lot of guys have used PA amps for guitar and this one has spring reverb. Cool amp and you stole it for $170. The amp head is worth $600-$700 all day long. Good find enjoy it.

Think of it as a four-channel Showman without vibrato.

Wow, an export model with the voltage selector. I wonder what’s up with that blocked-off speaker jack? On some Fender amps it matters which speaker output you use, but I don’t know about those PA heads. And, does it expect a four-ohm load from two eight-ohm cabs, or is it happier with an eight ohm load? Does the cab say it’s impedance? Although that might not tell you anything since it’s a mix-and-match with that head.

    Regardless, cool find.

Was actually really curious about the impedance selector. I was wondering if it was added later? Cant find a single one with it.

If you’re talking about that red knob, that’s not impedance, it’s voltage. Those were found on amps intended for export to other countries where there were different voltages for wall current, so you could use the same amp for your whole tour. For your purposes, in the States, you’ll want to keep that on 117! But if you end up touring Europe, you’ll be set.

I don’t see anything in the pictures that looks like an impedance Selector, and I don’t think you would have found one on a Fender at that time.

Sorry, totally tripped over my words! I meant voltage selector. So, was this something that was added later by the owner? I was this a factory option for export by fender?

The tubes alone are worth $150. Nice score!

The kitchen is a good place for it, because that amp really cooks!

Awesome. Thanks for all the valuable info. Just a trip because I can not find a single other one online that has the vintage selector. Maybe I’m not looking in the right places. And to answer your earlier question. Not sure at all why the input is blocked off. I actually didn’t notice until I got home (giant sticker residue around it should have caught my attention)
