Stopped at a pawnshop on the way home just out of habit and got lucky. I’ve had an old Cannondale F 2000 mountain bike for 11 or 12 years now and love the thing to death. This particular pawnshop never has any bicycles displayed so I asked and the girl says yeah meet me around back and I’ll show you what we have. As soon as she opens the door I see it. Cannondale R800. I figure they have it five or $600 but it’s 199! It’s been upgraded with a Mavic Cosmic wheelset and a full Ultegra group. The tires were flat so I couldn’t take it for spin but I shifted through the gears in the back of the shop. I figured for $200 I’ll take a chance. In the back I could tell that it was a beautiful sparkling green but I didn’t realize until I got it out in the sunlight that it’s flip-flop green and purple! Got it home, aired up the tires and took it for a spin. And absolute dream. Couldn’t be happier. My wife and I joined a local Thursday night bicycle group so this will fit right in. I haven’t weighed yet but it’s probably the lightest bicycle I’ve ever picked up. Serial number dates it to July of 98.

Nice whip, and a super deal. I just sold my last bike, a Trek FX2... osteoarthritis in my knees. :(

Unfortunately I got out of my daily bike riding habit and can't seem to get myself back into it. And my waistline is suffering for it. I blame old age

    congrats!

i used to ride mountain bikes from the mid 80's to the early 90's and the 2 best to me bikes were a cannondale a friend had and the schwinn i rode.

cannot remember the exact models but the cannondale could could manuever in any terrain with almost no effort and the schwinn was the fastest mouintain bike i ever rode that could handle almost as much rough stuff as the cannondale.

I've been out riding it since I posted. It's got a few nicks and dings but boy I'm in love with it already. Can't wait to put some miles on it.

I raced mountain bikes for years but tore up my knees doing a charity ride right after 9/11. Sold all my bikes and gear and started in on guitars. I've always had a bike though and my wife bought me a very nice used one back in 2007 that I still have but riding is sporadic. My main reason for trying to give up flipping guitars so many times is to spend more time taking care of myself physically. I never gave up on my passion for bikes, just didn't put in the time riding. I rode year round for many years even in Germany during the winters. I've been riding a bit the last few weeks and have been really enjoying it. I have so much free time there's zero excuse not to do it.

When I lived in VA I rode all the time. I have 2 Treks with me here in WV. No car I ever bought have me the joy of a bicycle.. In 10 times better shape, cheaper- no car insurance, upkeep, gas, etc.

I was into cycling for many years. Then I got back into playing guitar and the bike slowly got demoted to the balcony where she still remains, untouched for past 2 years. Someday I'll get around to pumping up the tires and ride it again, I hope...

Nice Lonn. I used to ride both road and mountain bikes. I can never find a bike in my size as I need a 20 or 21 inch frame, depending on the bike, used at a good price. And guitars get all the attention.

    That is a steal!
If it were mine, I'd put on the spare unused seat I have (I know it fits) and see if I have any clipless pedals in my stash. Maybe re-wrap the handlebar.

I'm intrigued by that top picture. That isn't the balcony, is it?

    Great bikes the Cannondale

I’m still averaging about 40 miles over the weekends only sunny days now though this is mine.

I’m a cyclist too. I’ve got a 2005 Specialized Stumpjumper for the mountain, and a 2012 Orbea for the road. The only problem is I can’t do both guitar and bike! No time!

So when I’m totally into my guitar playing, the bikes collect dust. Then when I get on a health kick and ride every day for miles, the guitars are neglected. But I get trim lol.

Thus I can never be a skinny guitar player because when I play, I don’t exercise.
