Made in china in 2012, what do you think about it? Would you change the pickguard?
Oh, gawd, yah...as one poster said, pearloid only works with certain colo(u)rs (with respect, bakkels, my friend). I know the 'guard on my flame top in the avatar is getting replaced...
That is one gorgeous guitar, tho...
Made in China? That's new to me...

Woahhh wait that’s a classic vibe Squier??? I had no idea they had flamed maple necks with *that* colour of body! Beautiful, congratulations!
The flame is just luck of the draw, nothing to do with body color. I’ve seen quite a few with some light flame, this one is perfect though!

For such a good looking guitar I'd want a corresponding guard so my vote were it mine would be a Fender (thinner and more accurate than the Squier equivalent) plain white 8 hole or anodised gold 8 hole guard for the period correct look.

It's a good looking guitar that could be beautiful....

The 8 hole with the correct hole position (near selector switch, are hard to find/expensive

I've got an '08 CV '50s Strat that has a little flame on the neck as well. Nowhere near as prominent as yours though. I've heard many of the early necks were quartersawn, too. Mine is.

Nice find! HNGD

Oh, and I'm positively in the "no pearl pg" camp and don't ever plan on leaving. But you must do what you feel is right. 😉

What a beauty. I would change the pickguard since I'm not a mother-of-toilet-seat fan, but it's just a matter of taste, there's nothing wrong with yours. Congrats, and have fun!

Here it is with his friend, with a proper fender pickguard, new Mexican tremolo and CTS pots and fender switch
