  7. P90s? I don't need no stinking P90s. I just need my Strat.

    Hey people,

I was just going through my daily junk email, and I saw this new Epiphone model. Cool thing is it's got the P90 Pro pickups - same ones I've got in my ES339, and they're no slouch as far as P90s go. From the looks of it this should be a great dual P90 guitar for pretty darn cheap.

Now I'm wondering how I could come up with the cash to add one to the stable. Not a fan of the Epi logo in the middle of the pickguard though.

Seen these today. I quite like the look of the Coronet, the single P90 model.

Personally I think the Les Paul Special TV Yellow with P90s is more than TWICE the guitar this is.....it's the same price, but should be priced higher than this one..... which is why I bought one....

I have a Coronet on order. I have to be patient. There are none in stock in Canada yet.

I've always liked those vintage slab Epiphones with P90's.

I wonder if the new ones will be up to scratch?

I've been looking at new Epiphones lately. I'd finally decided on an SG, and now these come along... :D
I believe they're bringing out some Inspired by Gibson ES models too, though I imagine they'll cost a bit more.

I see no reason why Epiphone's own models would be lesser quality than the Inspired by Gibson models, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

Wow, the people at Epiphone are having some really good ideas. I'm ALMOST tempted, but I won't bite. I already have a Casino, kind of "converted" to a 330 with lower-wind pickups. Sounds KILLER. If ever I'll want a solidbody with P-90s, it will be the time I get a Les Paul (likely Epiphone).

BTW: P-90s sound nothing like my strat, a lot more like a PAF humbuckers (while having more interesting cleans to me, YMMV).

Here's Cherry with friends, in her hot 330 dress

No no no, it's the Construction of the guitars.....the Les Paul Special has more weight, mass, resonance......the Wilshire will not sound as beefy....

Can't see why they wouldn't. Very simple construction, and IME Epiphone guitars are good quality. In the worse case, the pickups might be so-so and need to be swapped out.

Nice finish. I don't mind the p/g logo so much but the headstock one strikes me as a bit garish...it has a certain art deco feel to it, which I like, but I'm not sure that this guitar is the right place for it.

Would someone care to school me on the difference between a PAF sound and a P90?

If the quality is anything like the other Epiphones I've acquired, this is a bargain. Should have put speed knobs on it though. Great..MORE GAS.
