I've wanted one of these since about '72 (4th grade) when I saw a guy use one on TV. in 2002 I tried a MIM one and the resonance was so strong and toasty I never got around to plugging it in. I gotta get one.

I replaced the N3s in my Am Deluxe with Nocasters and it turned it into a new guitar. Love em.

Did the Nocasters fit with the same routing or did you have to carve out some wood to make them fit?
Also....mine has a 6 saddle bridge.....hopefully the bridge pup will fit??

Did you mod it? The Fender site says they come with Fender designed anlico single coil pickups.

My favorite : Nocaster neck and Fat 50 in the back position. Smoothness of the Al3 in the neck pos and beefy attack of the AlV in the bridge… Great combo!

I bought it this way specifically for the pickups. Previous owner did the work.

Yeah, the Nocasters dropped right into my 2015. The bridge pickup fits the 6-saddle bridge fine, but I've since fitted a modified vintage 3-saddle bridge on the Am Deluxe.

Thanks Rat......Mine is also a 2015. Hopefully the Nocaster pup set will rescue this Tele as it is terrible with the N3's.
I'll give an update when I git er' done.

One thing I forgot to ask...do the Nocasters use the same value tone and volume pots? How about the cap....same value?

You'll be fine with the stock pots and cap. I ended up replacing the cap with a .015 since I don't like things too dark and it gave me more of a usable tone sweep. I also replaced the tone pot with a push-pull so I could lose the S1 and put on some Callaham heavy-knurled nickel knobs. Those things are completely optional, of course.

Those are epic guitars. I love the necks and the skinny tall frets and they sound great. Congrats!

    Great!
Thanks a lot for the advice.....looks like I am good to go to start with.
Anything is better than what that Tele sounds like now.

Yeah, the N3s were strange. I didn't hate them, but they sure didn't sound like a Tele. I've still got them and will throw them in a build someday. Good luck with the project!

Lonn, is that one of the new ones with the nato body, or is it one of the older ones with the mahogany body. I ask because I once played one with the mahogany body and I was very impressed by it. By the time I decided it might be worth getting, Squier changed to the nato body, and I couldn't find any used mahogany body Thinline. I haven't tried out the newer one, but I'd be interested to find out if it is different.

I have a pile of tele pickups, many from small batch winder customs …
    All supposed vintage style,
That said, after much testing and swapping, and compared to real vintage examples.

The 51 nocasters are outstanding pickups , and a heck of a value.

I have a set of Don mare hot bake-lights that bumped em into the drawer, mainly due to the neck, it has some mojo magic fairy dust or something in it.

And also few others that sounded terrible compared to the 51 no set.
Cost more, had long wait times to get them, and were a real letdown compared to the 51 fender set.

One of the best fender brand pickups I have ever used that’s for sure. If after vintage style , country to zeppelin, they do very well I think.

Livingmydream, no idea. I stole the electronics out of it and put them in my gold Tele. Already sold the body and neck of the Thinline.

Thanks for the tip! These look very promising. I just ordered a set for my incoming Warmoth Tele. Affordable, traditional sounding and Made in USA, I had to pull the trigger and get a set.

Classic Vibes are great for modifying! I put Lawrences (Wilde) in mine and got great results. I'm looking for a seventies WRHB to put in one. I think they are suitable platforms.
