Hi All, I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago and finally found the time to make an introduction. I'm pretty new to playing the guitar. I had a cheap acoustic about twenty years ago that I learned to strum basic chords on. I gave it to a friend who was going to go around the world as a hand on a ship and wanted to learn the guitar with all of the free time he had. I wasn't playing it at the time so I was happy to give it away. This past Christmas my six year old son said he wanted a guitar. My wife initially got some really cheap kids guitar that wouldn't stay in tune and was really nothing more than a toy. We returned it and ended up getting him a Mini Strat. After spending some time teaching my son a few things, I realized how much I missed having a guitar and started shopping for one for myself. About 6 weeks ago, I picked up my first electric guitar - an American Professional Stratocaster. I had originally intended on getting a MIM Player Strat, but after spending a couple of hours in my local music shop I just fell in love with the one that I bought. Ever since then I've been picking up my guitar in every free minute that I have. I'm really loving my Strat and am amazed at the resources that are available today to learn how to play. I'm still very much a beginner, but I am getting better and based on the progress that I've made so far I'm confident that I'll get to where I want to go as long as I keep at it. One thing I've learned in a couple of weeks of reading this forum is that it doesn't count if there's no pics. so here are a couple of shots of my Strat.
