    Welcome to the forum.

I just picked up a lovely American Performer Strat. It's a fantastic guitar and I'd like to keep it. I don't like one detail though.

    The headstock.

It has one "birdseye-like" white dot (actually few of them, but this one is visible AF), which is reflective to light. It's wood grain and it really, really bugs me. Call me anal about that, but it's somehow my obsession, as it is REALLY visible from distance. Pic attached, it doesnt exactly show how visible it is though.

Is there any chance to remove/mask it? I don't want to return the guitar for such a stupid reason, yet I'd like to do something with it.

    Thanks for help.

if you were in america you could sue the tree for causing you mental anguish since you do not identify with the bird's eye.

It's so silly it really didn't deserve a serious answer.

Welcome to the forum, I agree with the sentiments above, wood is wood, perfect uniformity is plastic. It’s just a bit of character

but is it possible to mask it somehow? For me the grain on fretboard is "character" and mojo, but this... kinda disrupts me.

I’ve got nothing. With all due respect, I’m wondering if this is a troll post.

If not, welcome to the forum!

@vevel1256 - question: can you actually see that spot when you're playing it?

I don't think it looks bad myself, and I'm a picky bastard about wood grain (among other things). If you like the guitar otherwise, then maybe find a cool sticker that'll cover it.

    Welcome to Strat-Talk!

PS: more pics of your Strat?

It’s got a clear coat on it, so you can see the wood. You don’t like the wood, so all I can think of is having the headstock painted a solid colour. I can’t think of a way of ‘masking’ it. I’ve been down some pretty obsessive rabbit holes in the past so I can sympathise, but I’ve always regretted it, and you may well end up wishing you’d just left it the way fender intended when you’re further down the road

That's always the first question that pops into my mind in discussions of this sort. My philosophy with cars was always similar. If I can't see the dent/defect from the driver's seat, and can't hear that rattle over the radio..it didn't exist.

In physics parlance...if it ain't on my even horizon, it ain't real or it didn't happen. :)
