Picked up this Eric Johnson Virginia Strat today. Fantastic guitar! The best non Custom Shop Fender I've played. It actually plays and feels like a Custom Shop. Great attention to detail. Really like how the high E nut slot is cut a bit to the left like Eric's. Sounds and Plays great. Big old neck, very comfy.
HNGD!!!! Nice and one can even see the tone washer in the boat too. Does that really make a difference?
Very nice... I watched the promo video EJ did on this model. The clean sounds are about as close to perfect as you can get. That guitar does not have the EJ pickup set right? They tried to replicate what was in the original Virginia for this model correct?
Very nice! I love 54' strats already and then you make it Eric Johnson's, that's just cool. Congrats!
Lovely guitar and I hope the two of you will be really happy together! (EDIT: I'm an absolute sucker for anything with a sunburst body and a maple board!)
Well, sort of. The neck and middle pickups on the real Virginia were actual 1958's - the production Virginia's have 57/62's installed. The bridge is truly correct as a DiMarzio HS-2, wired for single-coil operation (or at least it should be wired single.) Sweet looking guitar though - turning several shades of green over here...
I am curious to hear your thoughts on the pickups. I don't know if I will need pickups for my new strat yet, but I am trying to get educated on options so I know where to begin. Hotter? Brighter etc... If I can get the clean chime EJ gets I would be happy. His lead tone is not really my target but those clean tones are.
