Received this from Reverb today, it’s a beautiful guitar. I like the soft V neck but the lacquer is a little sticky on the neck. Was wondering if I take some scotchbrite to take some of that tackiness away if it depreciates the value? It’s all original with case and goodies. Anyway loving the new axe. Thanks for looking
To answer your question; it shouldn’t hurt the value, but it can discolor in a way that may be unattractive. Once you do that you can’t go back. Wax has always worked for me.
Beautiful! I was going to get one just like that too, but then I preferred an American original 60s. Just keep cleaning and polishing the neck and the stickiness will go away by itself. I've had that on all my nitro finished guitars. It's normal
Triple white strats are high up on my list. Strats are not strats without the maple necks. IMHO, of course
I've got the same model, and as absolutely mechanically excellent as the 60th Anniversary 1954 was, I find the '56 in aged white blonde more timelessly lovely. Mine also has a loud, woody acoustic tone, which is nice when playing at 4AM in a house full of sleepers. Ash is the way to go on a '56.
Thanks for the tip! I had 60's Strats as well but I just fell in love with the thicker neck when I played one in the store a while ago. My first maple neck and really liking it Thanks Yes this guitar has a very resonating body, loud when not plugged in. Played it for quite a while last night and its one of the best I've played.
