Hi guys, here are some pics of my very first Fender Strat which I picked up this weekend, it's a 2016 American Standard with Custom Shop 50's.

As it is one of the last available American Standard Strats I got it for a very good price!

I'm very impressed with it so far, it came perfectly set up and haven't had to do a thing to it, it's ready to go!

One thing I have noticed though is that it doesn't have the No-Load tone control which it was advertised as having. I'm not sure whether it's something I'd use but if it's supposed to have it well it should have it, I don't know whether this is because it's a lefty?

I don't have any plans to mod it, it seems just great as it is, but I have now fitted some Dunlop Strap Lock buttons to it.

Sorry if the photo's aren't very clear, the room was a bit dark as it was early morning.

HNGD, but you might want to have a luthier check it out. It's backwards.

    Cheers guys.

Some guitars & basses don't look quite correct as a lefty model but the Strats don't look too bad IMHO.

Thanks sonny, yes I love it!

Not much colour choice for us lefties, White, Black or Sunburst only in this model. Yeah, Black with the maple & white is cool!

There are many colors available to us lefty's...just not from Fender. :):)

Here is my G&L in Himalayan Blue...still has some of that Leo Fender DNA in it....

Maybe the tone controls are "backwards" also? :p Can you post a pic of the back of the headstock please.

    congrats

It should have the no load control. I'd want to know why it doesn't. You sure it doesn't?
    Very nice guitar for sure.

    Hi John G,

The controls all work Anti-Clockwise (which is the same as how my American Standard Lefty Jazz Bass works). I'm assuming that on Right Hand models the control knobs work Clockwise to increase Volume/Treble?

I will post a photo of the rear of the headstock, the number starts with a 16 so it is definitely a 2016 model.

There is definitely no detent on either of the Tone Controls. Perhaps it can't work on a Lefty as the detent would be on the wrong end of the sweep on the potentiometer?

Us lefties pay extra for the 'privilege' of it being backwards! It used to be a 20% surcharge, don't know whether it still is.

    Beautiful Strat!

Congrats, my 2016 American Standard is the best Strat overall I have ever owned.

And that is out of about 12 to 15 very good to great Strats that have passed through the stable.

IMO, the Fender years between 2012 and 2016 are by far my favorite incarnations of what an American Standard Stratocaster should be.

Cheers Textele. I've never had a Strat before so I was unable to do a comparison, but I always read lots of reviews before I make a musical instrument purchase and the 2012-2016 Strat generally has formidable reviews.

Very happy with it, can't find a fault anywhere and the factory set up was first class.
