My newest addition. 2021 Fender MIM Player Plus HSS Stratocaster in Cosmic Jade.

Other than setting it up, no changes yet. I really love the pickups and for the first time find myself liking one of Fender's humbuckers. The guitar sounds and plays flawlessly. I love having no finish on the neck and I love that candy green color. It really pops and I can't wait to get it onstage under those lights!

    Great color.

No finish? I thought they have a satin finish on the neck.

Very cool, glad you are liking it.

That is a cool color, very Charvel-ish.

Can you describe what quality's that you like about that particular 'bucker in the bridge?

    Would be interested to know.

And, like yourself, have not been fond of many Fender humbuckers.

I do like the other Player's humbuckers I have played/heard.

Satin is what I think he is referring to. The Player's have a glossed fingerboard.

HNGD. This is the color that appealed to me of the new solid color guitars.

    Correct, my bad.

Yes it is satin but it feels like wood grain. It's not gummy and does not get sticky when you sweat like I do. It feels like its baked into the wood and not a lacquered finish, which I don't like for those same reasons. The satin is the way to go.

It's crunchy but it still has a good amount of clarity but isn't harsh like a stock modern-made Gibson humbucker either. It feels like it belongs there and even before you split it it could easily do some single-coil(y) type tones. It's full sounding but not fat sounding or overly warm. But it isn't a can of bees either. It sounds like a Strat pickup with a little more body around it and full crunch. You can still get a twang out of it. And then when you do split it, you can do Tele tone easily or still get that middle/bridge quack. It just seems to me Fender may have finally "got it" for an HSS. It doesn't sound out of congress with the other two single coils. And the vintage noiseless single coils sound better than I remember. They have a lot of clarity and Stratty tone, more than I remember.
