Recently sold an Ibanez JS240PS only because I couldn't bond with the neck, and purchased in its place a Jackson Pro Series Soloist SL2 in Red Mercury. I've owned many Ibanez guitars, but never a Jackson and nothing this pointy. The look takes me right back to the 80s, though this is my first crackle finish.

It came set up perfectly, with nice low action, and plays great. The only two things I didn't like so much I was able to remedy with some parts on hand: I replaced the cheap tuners with Planet Waves auto-trim lockers and I replaced the screw-in trem arm assembly with a pop-in. That may be all it needs, as the fretwork seems surprisingly good so far. Will see how the Floyd 1000 feels, that may get upgraded.

I'd also like to express my thanks to Jon at Red Dragon Guitars, the eBay seller (camaror-25) who went over and above on this sale with helpful info + communications, a very competitive price, a cool T shirt, and a terrific Jackson TSA hard shell case "thrown in" for no extra charge!

The pics show the guitar out of the box, prior to peeling the plastics or making the mods noted above. My photography (on a cloudy day) doesn't do the finish justice, the fine silver streaks in the bright red are unbelievable in person.

Nice! Get yourself some Aquanet hairspray and a teasing brush and you'll be ready for that Warrant tribute band!

I'm guessing that thing sounds and plays great. Looking forward to hearing it in action.

Love it! I've always wanted a crackle finish Jackson or Charvel but never could seal the deal. I guess I'll just have to be content with Olic and my white pinstripe RRX24M.
Can't wait to hear what you can do with it!

To quote Crocodile Dundee: that's not a pointy guitar! This is a pointy guitar!

Cool Jackson! Interesting finish; I suppose I've just not seen that many pink crackles; I've mostly seen the orange/black ones.

Not the body, true, but the headstock has a pretty good point on it. I'd much rather be accidentally jabbed by a strat headstock than this one!

I guess they're trying a pretty bold experiment bringing back the crackle finishes. I never had one back in the day. This one does look a bit pink in my pics, but it's bright red in person.

I bought a Gibson ES335 in the early 60's. One day I brought it in from the icy cold Iowa temps and opened the case up to play it in an 78 degree room. I watched my guitar get an instant crackle finish right before my eyes. I don't find them very attractive.

Sure. But after the stab thrust with the headstock you don't have anything with which to disembowel using the body of the guitar.

HNGD! A lot of people can't give a pointy guitar away in this town for some reason. Looks nice to me though.
