Have not owned any sort of Acoustic guitar since 1975, when my treasured Guild Mk II burned up in a house fire. I've been orbiting this decision for years and the eagle has finally landed. New Taylor 416 CE, here's the pix:

And here's what she sounds like. I cannot believe how full this sounds with a simple SM-57 and no postprocessing save a touch of reverb. Haven't played an acoustic in a very long time and every time I reach for the whammy bar it slips and I miss a note.

every time I go back to playing acoustic for a gig, I realize how much of the richness and fullness of sound you miss when playing electric. A good acoustic fills up so much space in sound from lows to highs.. while electrics tend to be more focused on the highs and mids.

Thanks all, was not familiar with the Taylors until this past year when a buddy of mine brought his over for a recording session, they seem to have a really well defined voice. It's been a long time since I played one, as I said earlier.

As far as modern acoustics go, Taylor and Martin are the Fender and Gibsons of the Acoustic world.

If I could pick any acoustic guitars with any amount of money I'd pick\

    1. 60s Gibson Hummingbird
    2. a modern High-End Taylor.

You know I played a couple of Martins and really tried to like them, mainly b/c of the name I guess but they all sounded a bit muddy to me. Guess I've gotten used to that single coil clarity over the years.

Happy NAGD! A friend of mine has a Taylor and I really liked the tone. It's a very lively sound.
