looking forward to hearing you play it. exciting for sure, but to be honest I doubt it could look as nice as your home built, but the proof is in the playing I'm sure you'll rock the hell out of it

It's here! I can't find any scratches or dents - it appears to be in perfect condition. All the electronics seems to work. There's a series/parallel switch on the volume control which really makes a distinctive difference. The tremolo is decked, so it only does dives, but I may leave it like that for now. Neck is perfect, and the tort is not so bad. I may leave that for now as well. I did receive the replacement plastic.

The color, Olympic pearl, is kind of a yellowed white. I'm not sure how well it matches the pearl plastic I bought. But there's plenty of time for that. I think for now, I'll just play this thing. Been waiting all day :)

That is a nice color. I like the tort pick guard on it too.
    Congrats. It looks great

Thanks! I am actually starting to like the tort with this color.

    This may be the dent:

I think I can live with the steeply discounted price if the only damage is with the case. Playing the guitar itself, I see nothing wrong with it. And I just can't get over how nice that Elite neck is.

Super nice guitar. Was that case damage from shipping or that was the discount reason? Anyways, enjoy the heck out of it. HNGD.

Thanks! I have to believe the damaged case is the discount reason. I can find no scratches or dents on the guitar itself.

Good deal you found there, and good fortune to have a mint guitar with slightly dinged up case. That's much better than the other way around! Enjoy it.

Score!!! Very pretty guitar, and a great deal since the only damage was to the case. I suspect a mom & pop dealer would have just replaced the case (that case is available as an accessory; they would then ship the case back to Fender for replacement) and sold it at full price, but MF ran it as an open box scratch-and-dent.

Yeah I usually take the plastic off my pickguards. LOL. Seriously though I’m glad the scratch and dent was only the case. It’s a beautiful classic looks guitar and your going to love that neck. Carry on good man. Enjoy

It's looking like the imitation SBK, Chinese made Fender Elite cases are total junk.

Mine arrived last week, also with corner damage.

It was double boxed, with foam endcaps, and still could not survive 2 days with UPS.

Ups is not kind to packages.
I think if they see fragile markings on a box, they take it as a personal challenge to crush it.

I'm sure someone here works for ups and will take offense, but shipping with them is risky. You had better have your items packed right, and then some.

The post office doesn't damage your boxes as much....... they just completely lose them.

Fed ex seems to be somewhere in between.

Personally, if i have to sell a guitar, especially one with a Gibson headstock, im going to encase it in lucite, then bubble wrap, then triple box it.

I actually have two other cases just like this one. They both survived the trip through UPS with no issues, and I've brought them to gigs, also with no issues. Perhaps some of them were just not molded or cured correctly, and ended up with weak spots?

In a past life, I had to design boxes to ship expensive test equipment.

UPS suggests that packaging must be able to survive a 10 foot drop, onto a concrete parking block.

It must also survive a 2" penetration.

Those older Fender cases from SKB seem much more up to the task.
