So, saw an Epi Jnr with a single P90 on local Facebook for over what I thought it was worth but not far off.

£100, I've been looking for either an SG or Jnr like this for a while, as it was a bolt on I got him down to £70 which I thought was an OK price. Got it home, and... it's a humbucker model modded with a dog ear P90, damn lol Didn't look close enough when buying it. All I did was check the neck was straight.

Cheap enough not to be bothered and it will make a good modding platform. Only issue is I didn't realise they were ply bodies DOH! Still, it sounds ok and has full sized pots, pup is no name but sounds ok.

So, plan? I've ordered new Vanson machine heads for it, cleaned it, setup with new strings and set the action and it plays great. Once I've moved house I'm going to build a new body for it and keep the hardware as got some nice wood frmo my old man, Sapele I think which will work well.

Pretty close to being burned here lol

Having thought about this a bit more, I reckon I was burned here, should of only paid £50 max, oh well, first time it's really happened to me when I've had no recourse. Still looking forward to modding it and a new body ;)

Plywood's nothing to worry about in my opinion, my plywood Squier sounds great (when it's not broken!).

Shame you're not happy with it, but happy new guitar day anyway!

I built a twin humbucker using a piece of Sapele for the body. Easy enough to work with and is, unplugged, probably the most resonant guitar I've got.

£70 ain't that bad looks in good condition, keep the wood you've got for a completely new set neck build and use the epi for slide maybe ?.

This isn't plywood - they are mahogany with maple veneer back and front.....

    It's well worth 100 quid......WELL worth.....

A P90 is WAY better than a humbucker every day of the week @SachaPlusDeluxe - amazing killer tone machine!!

The entire jr line now (the cheap bolt on ones) is gone anyway, and they're climbing in value. The ones with the original P90 aren't worth much more anyway......

I saw a guy play a shovel with strings on it. I saw another guy play a guitar with a cement block for a body. Both sounded good. I’m of the opinion that body wood is overrated.

If it sounds good, it is good. There will never be bragging rights or raised-value with any Epi Jr. Make a 2nd out of Paulownia, instead of modding, IMHO.
