I sold my Jaguar-Strat last Saturday, to a very nice guy from Birkenhead.
He asked if we could meet up half way, so I suggested Ormskirk, the home of my favourite guitar shop, Sound Affects Premier.
So when the sale was done I headed straight to SAP, with a wad in my pocket.
Anyways I wanted to re-check out the Fender Sixty Six and had a real good go on a number of Strats and Teles.
The one that blew them all away, especially on the pickup front, was a Fender American Elite Strat HSS Shawbucker in Olympic Pearl, with a maple fingerboard.
I'd owned this model before, except with a rosewood fretboard.
I don't usually like to go back but this guitar is so good and I only sold my other, when I was desparate to raise some cash.
Well it's back home, blasting out of my amp in the coolest of ways.
What a guitar and I really love it's looks too, with it's pearly, off-white body and tort scratchplate.

    Nice !
Did they stop using skunk stripe on the deluxe/elite necks ? New type of trussrod that is inserted from the body end of the neck ?

Seems the skunk stripe has disappeared and the clever, truss rod adjustment wheel idea, they nicked off MusicMan, is a real boon.

Stunning, I really want to try an elite at some point, I haven't yet as my credit card is I'm scared of the outcome ;) Enjoy :)

Or is it a maple board on a maple neck rather than one piece?

Yes that must be it, they need a way to rout the canal.

Congrats! I really really like my Elite. They are great guitars. Mine does not have a skunk stripe either

My previous Elite did not have a stripe either.

I've only ever been to Sound Affects in Liverpool, that's a great new shop, got my Katana there and it's only 10 mins down the M57 from me.

    Enjoy.

Pretty sure MusicMan didn't invent that, either. My late 60s Silvertone (Teisco) has it.

Nice! I like Elites as well.

That neck joint should be uniform across the line, except for a 'trad' version.

I'm afraid that shop closed. Definitely worth a visit to the Ormskirk shop though.

Who'd have thought. I think Charvel were using it before EBMM too.
    Nothing new:eek:
