Just pickup up a deluxe fmt hss. I picked it up for its looks. I know it’s a 2004. Needs a setup but came with all hang tags and case candy. Excited about this one.

    Very nice.
I like the horizontal lines behind the vertical flame. Really cool.

Man you got the correct case too! Beautiful. They play like buttah. Nice grab. You will love the S-1 switch on that. HNGD.

well every time I use the trem the strings return sharp. I have to pull on the string to get them back in tune. Kinda disappointed in the lsr nut.

but I do love playing it. The fretboard is very tite and smooth ebony. Sounds pretty good with the sun pickups. Still need the nut lowered a tad as it is high on the first fret.

I do not know. Good question. Mine is a QMT from 2007 HSS and the seller shipped it in the chainsaw case. I emailed Fender before purchase to get specs and they listed the brown tolex case.

Maybe a little TLC. That guitar is in such awesome condition I do not think it was played much.

In that era all American Series models and the "regular" American Deluxes got the chainsaw case, the FMT and QMT American Deluxes were supposed to have the brown tolex case. However, with Fender you never know - if they were out of the brown tolex cases they might have shipped out some of the FMT/QMTs in the chainsaw case, or they could have moved them to the chainsaw case for the end of the run but never updated the spec sheet. I can't remember when the FMT/QMTs were discontinued; they might have been dropped for 2008 or for 2009.

EDIT: Evidently I was thinking of the FMT/QMT American Deluxe Tele HHs - they were discontinued at the end of 2006; the FMT/QMT American Deluxe Strat HSSs remained in production until the entire series was revised at the start of 2010.

When the revised American Standards came out for 2008 they were shipped in the rectangular SKB-made case with TSA locks but the American Deluxes stuck with the chainsaw case until their 2010 revision.

I also bought a 50th anniversary strat in 2004 ish and when my brother turned up with it it was in a chain saw case whick are great cases, I went back and asked for the tolex anniversary case they didn't know what I was talking about it took 4 months to get the proper case.
