I KEEP GOING BACK TO LOOK AT YOUR PICS......
That's a stunner. Those early 00's R8's are outstanding. Enjoy.
That is stellar! Congratulations!
i think this one is called butterscotch. It has a vintage look, but I actually prefer a dark burst on a les paul, like bourbon burst with a black frame around the top.
That is a STUNNING Les Paul. And a beautiful finish. DAM
Yep I´v been soo close getting a "normal" R8 many times the last 15 years, but I´v always known these 2001 R8s existed, and that I would never stop chasing one with a realy nice flametop!
Wow. That's a crazy amount of flame for an R8! Even too much for my taste. I like it more subtle and random looking, as opposed to AAA.
And the burst fade is just spot on. Congrats!
That is a killer top and I love that amber/honey color.
Beautiful guitar! HNGD!
That’s a beauty, congrats
Congrats on that beauty. That's the one to make your forever guitar.
Congratulations, a very nice guitar.
I stupidly sold my R7 and R8 last year. I miss the big 50’s necks on these guitars.
I hope to buy another R8 this year.
Kind of agree. But this one still got some "classic" flame pattern. A bit wavey, some vertical movement and mineral streaks, so not too over the top for me. A super even, pin-striped PRS-style top just looks wrong on a reissue. I like a top where the flame extend all the way to the binding and all the way up to the cutaway and the toggle-switch, so this one is right up my alley.
Awesome guitar! All about context I suppose, but I think R8s offer the best value in the Historic line—particularly these with the figured tops. I guess people like the skinnier neck profile of the R9s, but for those of us who enjoy the bigger in-hand feel, why part with sometimes 1.5-2x for an R9 when you can get a top like this on an R8.
I wouldn’t own any other incarnation of the LP, personally. I even have specific taste for a couple years of production. Those early 2000s ones are real gems—some even with Brazilian boards.
So the big question on the LP forums would be....when are you going to double the money you’ve already spent and switch out all the plastics for the the “right ones”...the stuff that smells like puke? Ha. And those pickups, I’m sure they’re SO insufficient!!
Wow! Very nice.
Truly beautiful! Congrats!
