I am primarily an acoustic player, playing on a vintage guild and an all mahogany martin. But back in my younger years I played a lot of electric. I started on a cort x2 strat type and often on a stagg strat that the singer in my band had. I didnt like any of these two guitars and they convinced me that I didnt like strats. I later got a decent les paul copy, and left both electrics back home when I moved to a new country.

Recently, I found myself wanting to return to electric. From my experience and all the youtube videos I watched I knew myself a Les Paul / es335 kinda guy. So I went to music stores to try some out. Every time it ended the same way : tried the target guitar (gibson LP/ES335, PRS SE, ...), was disappointed by the build quality of gibsons and didnt bond much with any, and ended up playing a fender “just to try” for most of my time there. After a few times like that I had to admit it : I was a strat player. After all most of the artists whose songs I like to play play strats...

And so the hunt began and I ended up snapping this beauty on the used market :
2006 ash fender american deluxe in tobacco sunburst.
It has this marks in the wood (Just bellow the bridge) that I find beautiful and I wonder if you guys know what it can be ? Some kind of figured wood ?
It sounds and plays great and I love the s1 switch !

Anyway time to try to post some pictures :)

I have the same model, same year, in the burnt amber finish.
What you are seeing at the bridge seems to be just an anomoly in the ash's grain.
These are exceptionl examples of what a Strat can be.

586D4F64-E3AE-448E-93AA-D3AB8FC44DFA.jpeg To the OP...you can get some nice figuring in ash. My strat has some quilting in the grain, really noticeable up close. It’s more evident on the back. I will try to find a photo of the back.

I am waiting for my other tablet to charge so I can get the picture of the back of my guitar. Will try to remember to post later. That's a nice looking piece of wood you have there.

    Thanks :)
Pickups are the original noiseless ones, called SCN or something. I like them especially with the s1 swith using neck and middle in series like a wide humbucker.

Does that mean that the ones you use are made by Bill Lawrence and not Fender ? Or do you refer to the original SCN in the american deluxe of the time ?
Either way, interesting bit of literature !

I don't know for sure, but I think it's most likely to be
I have the loaded PG of an 2004 am Deluxe, with the S1 switch, on what originally was a 2003 Highway One.
I think the guy I bought the axe from, got himself the Deluxe but was so used to playing Alnico pups, he couldn't get on with the noiseless pups. So swapped them over.

Congrats, "stunner" is a great word choice for your NGD Deluxe!

While reading this thread, I brought my own "Ash" back into the rotation.
