I’ve been hankering for a decent acoustic for some time. All this talk here of old Martins certainly didn’t help. I went to my local store yesterday to look at some of their newer stock but ended up with this 1989 Gibson J-30.

It has a few dings but plays and sounds great!

My only regret is that I was planning to go out and try a bunch more instruments. Now I don’t get to.

You can still try them. It is the purchase that would be a bit of a problem...

    Great old guitar.

Very nice! I actually prefer Gibson acoustics over Martin. I once played a J45 in a music store years ago that was heavenly. I still think about it. HNGD.

    Nice!

All the acoustic Gibsons I coveted were above my income level. Man, that Songwriter....

This one was surprisingly affordable. I went in to look at an Alvarez but that one was sold. This one wasn’t much more. He also had me try a 1950 J-50. That one cost several times as much. Yeah it sounded better but to me it wasn’t a big difference.

Yeah I could still try some others but I can’t afford any more temptation.

    Thanks everybody. I’m enjoying it!

Beautiful. Those dings are easily fixed if you're so inclined, but there's nothing wrong with honest wear, either.
