Never owned a semi before. These late 70's/early 80's Ibanez guitars are simply amazing though. If more people realised their quality they would be much less affordable. Perfect, low action, no fret wear, just a few small scratches on the back.

All the old Ibanez guitars I have played from the late 70s to the 80s have either been really good or awesome !

I did not realize they were doing the tailpiece like that back then. I have a late model AS73 with a very similar tailpiece.

Yes, the Gibraltar Bridge I think it's called. My '78 (first year) Iceman has it as well:

Beautiful guitar. I'm a big fan of the older Ibanez guitars as well.

Their Super 70's pickups are one of my favorite humbuckers , terrific sounding .

I got to try an Artist similar to yours a few years back. Great guitar.

It certainly has zero fret wear. Bit of buckle rash on the back, but I can live with that on a 35 year old guitar.

Really nice. I have an 1982 AM-205 and love it. Are the pickups stock?

That back shot of the 50 almost takes human form to these old eyes. Nice grab for sure!

Yes. At first I wasn't sure as I was just looking for a Semi acoustic Ibanez generally. The uncovered pickups suggest aftermarket replacements. But when I researched it I found this catalogue from 1981:

    And this one from 1979:

So assuming the spec in 1980 was the same these are the original V2 pickups. Tried it last night, they sound wonderful. Quite high output, but that suits me.

Slightly crackly jack of course. Always seems to be the case on older guitars!

Wow, they used some nice wood back in the days. They were made in Japan, they still make absolutely awesome guitars as long as the factories are still there (

    All the best,
    Robin
