Congrats! I think you made a good move.

Yeah, the new Epiphones are super nice. I got a Special for my son's graduation present and am really impressed. Want one for myself now.

    .

The switch is likely the 'box style' (open up the back cover and look) while the Gibsons/etc get the more durable Switchcraft stacked leaf style. It's a good change. If you're in there looking and soldering then also put a Switchcraft jack and check the pots. I usually go with Bourns as I like them better than CTS (feel). Most Epiphones have been given Alpha pots which are ok but may have thinner traces on the resistor tracks. Use a meter to measure what you take out and which you put in when you do it so you don't change the tone much, or go higher in the spec range for brighter, lower for darker. Swapping caps can change the tone even when dimed, for most of the MIK Epiphone run they were putting 0.033uF caps in the guitars instead of 0.047uF.

    Looks like a fun guitar.

    P90s are awesome.

Epiphone uses the stacked leaf style switches. They work fine. The new 2020 models use CTS pots, and orange drop caps.

    No need to change anything.

I was thinking about changing the switch not because of durability - I'm really easy on gear at this point in my life. But I was hearing some static like noise in it while switching. I just played it for a bit and switched quite a bit and couldn't find the noise. If everything else looks kosher (the posts are definitely CTS) I'll probably just sit tight for the time being. I'm no good with a soldering iron, so I was gonna have to take this to a local guy, who hasn't opened back up yet. My bigger motivation was gonna be to combine volume and tone controls into one master volume and one master tone, but I'm doing OK with the four separate knobs at this point.

Here's a pic. I'm not sure what a "stacked leaf" style switch is, but this looks to me like it probably is one?

Yeah, that's a "stacked leaf" style switch.

The static is probably just a little oxidation on the switch. Some contact cleaner would probably fix it.

absolutely love Pelham Blue, and I’m a fan of SGs too, so what’s not to like?

I do find with SGs though that the upper fret access is so good that I end up forgetting how high up the neck I am and running out of fretboard...so I prefer 24-fret SGs, but I guess that’s just a personal sickness and not everyone is an incorrigible top-of-the-fretboard noodler.

Yeah, they are. They didn’t come on the guitar - I had them sitting around and liked them more than the top hat type that it came with...

It'll be interesting to see how that "Inspired By" line goes over and how it will affect the market.

    Congratulations!
