So, I bought this before I sold the two guitars intended to cover the cost of it... Wife's a touch mad but then complained that I don't play enough guitar for her, so I guess it's OK. She didn't murder me with it, so I live another day!

I couldn't pass it up, though. I was complaining that the Vintera Road Worn only came in Lake Placid Blue and Firemist Gold and I wish it came in Candy Apple Red.

Well, Captain Lee and Danish Pete got Fender to make 50 of these (and 50 each of a couple different colors). 40 each went to Anderton's in the UK and 10 each went to Chicago Music Exchange. So... I got CME to knock $75 bucks off and paid for it with credit that I'll pay back when I sell a couple other guitars.

    Description & Specs
Fender Road Worn is back! Those of us who love vintage instruments can’t help but have a special place for the ones that wear their licks and lumps with pride, boldly brandishing the tarnish of time as a catalog of a life hard-lived and shows hard-played. We teamed up with our friends in the UK, Andertons Music Co., to create just such a guitar. The CME Exclusive Fender Road Worn 1960s Stratocaster is the spitting image of the real thing, outfitted with period-correct components, USA-made Pure Vintage ‘59 Strat pickups, and CME Exclusive finishes like Vintage White, Daphne Blue, and Candy Apple Red, each pulled from the pages of history and made to look as broken in as they feel.

Great little story behind it, and wow! Thats quite an awesome guitar you have there!
Best of luck with it and congrats, thats a keeper, and worth parting with two guitars ( whatever they were)!

It's good she didn't kill you. It would have been hard to tell the story or play the guitar.

    Nice guitar, btw.

Well that plan did not work. Guess I will have to buy one of those beautiful guitars on my own. HNGD.

I’m going to start buying road worn guitars so that my wife doesn’t ever think I’ve bought another new guitar! That one looks the part! So nice!
Just kidding she’s in on every guitar I buy and is the one convincing me to buy it.

Beautiful guitar! And I am not partial to factory relic jobs. I hope it plays even better than it looks

Nice guitar... but even if you sell the other two, you can't redeem the deficit you incurred. If you sell them for more than you paid for this one she'll tell the story to others while you're there... but you'll still come off on the downside. If you sell them for less then she won't tell the story... and that's even worse.

Just seen it on Anderton’s website. £999 here, how does that compare?

$1199.99 in 'Merican money, although I went into the support chat on CME's website and asked "Hey, you have any active coupon codes?" and the sales guy shaved a few dollars off for me.

    Alas,
There's no way on earth I could purchase a guitar without SWMBO noticing.
The fortunate thing is SWMBO is not involved in my purchase decisions, nor has she any influence in the procurement process...

As such, there is no possibility of murder over a guitar purchase. Amplifiers and cabs can cause friction due to the space requirements, but not enough to become life threatening...

Can think of other plausible excuses, but guitar purchases aren't the culprit :D:whistling:
