2019 PRS SE Custom 24 Sweetwater Exclusive

    Korean model :thumb:

I was super nervous about this purchase at first but I was absolutely blown away. Fit and finish are perfect and it sounds amazing. I’m seriously shocked honestly and I’m like seriously how much more do you really get buying a PRS Core model but I guess PRS Core models are top grade. The SE line does share the same bridge, pickups, pots and more with the US S2 series which is entry level US. I’ve never been let down by Korean Ibanez, Reverend and a couple others. If I didn’t know it was an SE model I would think it could be possibly US, especially with some of the models and stuff Gibson puts out from time to time lol - not hating just saying.

Anyways it looks beautiful, fit/finish is perfect, the sound is great and just super in love with it. I plan to do a couple mods, nothing crazy but yeah. Anyone considering a Korean made PRS SE I say go for it.

Pics below, they aren’t the best but we’re quick shots.

Stunning, I really NEED a PRS in my arsenal, and the SE range appears to be incredible value for money, enjoy!

PRS are incredible guitars. The SE line is a great value and the ones I have owned or played are far better than MIM Fenders. My only complaint with the SE line is the pickups. They have always sounded muddy to me.

Should be Trampas Green but with a special quilted top. The normal ones are not that beautiful, even the core models.

    Congratulations.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I like my PRS CE24 semi.

Why do you feel the need to modify it?

Some of the differences between Core and SE besides the electronics, bridge, body carve and tuners which are more easily seen, are the wood quality, nut material and the Core have natural maple binding vs the ivoroid plastic used on the SE range. Not knocking the SE’s still all just pointing out some of the features the Core line have vs. the SE line.

‘For now the pickups are working out pretty decent and I may change them out later this summer possibly. They aren’t to bad at all and not to muddy but I also heard that they recently worked on the new S2/SE 85/15 humbuckers in the last couple years and that they’ve improved a lot. Honestly I’m new to PRS guitars so I’m not sure yet of anything. Only other PRS thing I own is my PRS Archon 100 half stack.

Yeah I’m replacing the current bridge with a MannMade 2040 by John Mann who is the brain/builder behind the real deal PRS Core bridge. He sales the 2040 bridge through his brick and mortar store website. It’s an all brass two piece bridge and the same which is used in the PRS Core models. He does offer for sale a one piece brass model but it never stays in stock to long lol. The 2040 is $200 and ships free. The MannMade/PRS 2040 bridge and PRS US nut will be great upgrades. So only thing I’ll be changing out in a week is the bridge and changing the nut over to a PRS US nut. Otherwise I’m comfortable at the moment and love the guitar.

Yeah the Mann Made bridge will be an awesome upgrade for sure. They are very nice. I owned a SE Custom 24 for a couple weeks this summer with the 85/15s pickups and could never dial out the bassy, muddy (to my ears) tone. I bought a Core Custom 22 in mid November and was shocked how much more articulate the pickups were especially with gain added to the signal. I actually liked the prior SE pickups far more than the 85/15s but everyone and every rig is different so my experience with them of course may not be the same as yours. That quilted top on yours is insanely beautiful BTW.

    Wow, nice!!! Congrats.

When I got my CE24 I was on the fence between trampas green and violin amber. A poll of my wife and kids pushed me to the violin amber.
