Just received this guitar last night.

An Ovation Celebrity. Nothing fancy, kind of an entry level guitar, but it plays surprisingly well, and sounds surprisingly good. It's one of those "super shallow" body styles, so it's really comfortable to wear and play. A pretty nicely flamed top as a bonus. And it's kind of pink in color. I'm not a big fan of gold hardware, so if I come across some black or chrome tuning machines I may swap those out. But in the mean time, I'm going to rock it. I should change the strings, though I'm torn between the better sounding 11's or the easier playing 10's.

Oddly enough, I'd be hard pressed to hear a difference between this guitar, and the Elite, which costs about twice as much.

Which pic depicts the actual color? The top or the bottom? Oh, and HNGD!

Thanks! It appears that the color shifts depending on the light. The top pic is in the living room with the window shade open to natural sunlight. The bottom pic is in my practice room lit by an LED overhead.

I remember Seeing Heart Many Eons ago and Nancy Wilson played her Ovation, I Was Absolutely Enthralled.... With Both the sound of her Guitar and Her as well :)

Thanks guys! Yeah, I've been playing Ovations since the 70's. While I've owned a few other brands - Guild, Martin, etc - I've always come back to Ovations. They have that bright sound that cuts through the mix, and the rounded back is much more comfortable for me to play.

They do sound bright and cut through mixes like the acoustic version of a tele. The round back is the part I dont like, they slip off my lap... :(

Try Taylors if you havent, I like the crispy acoustic goodness their cheaper models have (110 and 114).

I've always wanted one of those, but their round back and my round front just aren't compatible. :(
Should have gotten one back when I was as thin as my wallet! ;)

    HNGD!

So, speaking of chrome tuners, I had a set of Grovers on an electric build that was, say, not entirely successful, and looking at them, I was wondering if they would fit on the Ovation.

Sure enough, they were a drop-in fit, so I got to work. Several minutes later:

To be honest, there's not too big a change, looking from the front. But during tuning, I was getting some weird artifacts, like I'd hear a click and then the string would drop in frequency a semitone. Not sure if it would do that because the stock tuners were bad, or if I just wound the strings around the tuner poorly. I guess I'll find out soon enough as I was able to salvage the existing strings. I had just changed them when I received the guitar.

That's one of those guitars I've always loved to look at and wanted, but never seem to like them when I play them in person.

Love 'em. I had two in the 80s. Sorry to have them get away.
