Well, folks, I have finally joined the club and bought a USA Strat! A new EJ strat showed up at my door today courtesy of Musician’s Friend. The fit and finish are perfect and I am very impressed. I was worried about the neck size as I had read it was very large. While it is a baseball bat I believe the 12” radius offsets any difficulties one would have playing a larger neck. It is much more comfortable than my classic ‘70s strat with a U-shape neck and I believe this is due to radius differences. Although I play .09s and with a floating trem, I found the factory setup felt like butter and I played a couple of hours with no fatigue. The hallmark of a good guitar. With that said, after playing the EJ strat for a while, my opinion of my 2019 ‘50s classic strat is higher now. I purchased the classic right before the line was rebranded to vintera. As the EJ is based on a ‘57 strat I have to say the classic has nailed the contours and pickups. The key difference being finish and neck size. I am very impressed with this guitar and I am glad to finally own a US strat. Cheers!
The maple neck EJ strats are my favorite Fender. I like the pups and the neck feels so good. Congrates on your EJ
yeah, I had issues with the sticky neck. It seems odd that they ship what is otherwise such a great guitar that way (does anyone really think about a guitar, "hey, this neck isn't sticky enough, if only Fender offered that as an option"?) but it's curable. Anyway - distracting from the point - HNGD.
That stinks, so it never smoothed out for you then? After cruising guitar forums for years and seeing some of the compulsions players have I would not doubt someone has thought that. Haha Thanks.
Congrats on that beauty! I've just bougt a AVRI57 and the neck feels sticky at first as well. To me it's gone within few days of playing it. Maybe I just got used to it, or it really got better.
Yeah I think putting in some hours should do the trick. My final choices were this guitar and a AVRI57 I hopped on this one because of its 12” neck radius. But I’m sure an AVRI is in my future.
