Pure Awesome. ENJOY!!!
I like the Bourbon Burst and Cherry as well... but sometimes Bourbon comes across too dark depending on the lighting, like some of the tobacco bursts of the 70s, and Cherry... I'm always worried that I'm going to watch it fade and age into a Clownburst
Trade the wife?
I am missing the strap and plain truss rod cover as well. It was on the wall (top row) at Sam Ash, and the plastic had already been peeled off of the pickguard.
I have one of Bodean's Straps and really don't care about the Gibson strap, and I'm not going to spend the time to drive back to Rancho Cucamonga for a $14 truss rod cover.
This one was built April 8th... the day before mine:
Trogly's was built a month earlier on March 7th
Absolutely, and it's something that you can't put your finger on until you play/own one... and even after that, it's hard to describe.
It's not exactly like comparing a Corolla to an IS300, it's more of a feel, but I'm convinced that if you were to blindfold someone and put them in a room with 2 Chibsons, 2 Epiphones, and 1 Gibson, they'd properly ID the Gibson.
I liked both necks, and on Strats I really like that big chunky hard "V" shape, but I do like the thinner profile of the 60s neck over the 50s. It probably has to do with the flatter radius.
On the tuners, I prefer the keystone style over the "kidney"... but I already have several 3+3 guitars with the keystones... so the finish and neck won out over the 50s model that I tried.
Funny how the salesmen treat you completely differently when you ask to see a pair of Gibsons vs a couple of MiM Strats. "Here's a cable, oh, do you need a pick?"
Really gorgeous! Happy New Lester Day!
Well, Welcome to the Club
She's a beauty! Retire in style and enjoy!
Beautiful axe. I suppose I should show mine.
2012 highly modded Gibson Les Paul Supreme, Seymour Duncan '59/JB, gold metal surrounds, brass roller bridge, brass tailpiece, Schaller strap locks and gold metal pickup selector switch tip, vintage style control knobs and Optima 24k strings.
Nice Lester there. I bought a new 2016 and haven't looked back. If you really want a Gibson, then get one. Sure, there are nice substitutes but in the back of your mind you know it isn't. If you decide later that maybe it wasn't up to what you thought it would be you can get most of your money back out of it. And you'll have settled that that internal debate as well
Mine isn't going anywhere
I want a new P90 as well. I just hope by the time I decide the time is right they come in some different finishes
Whoa yea, nice Gibby and happy NGD!
Very beautiful, congrats. An attractive chunk of wood.
Congratulations...on your new guitar, it's a beauty!
Enjoy it for years to come!
59/JB is a great combination. It's what I ran in my Epi LP, and what I have in my Epi SG.
My Sheraton has a 59/ANP2.
It's like buying a Honda instead of a Harley. The Honda gets the job done, and you'll have a good time on road trips, but if you really wanted a Harley, you'll never be happy until you actually own one.
Same here... but I do want the Goldtop.
Wife would kill me though, since I just bought a Harley Benton GTP90 a couple of months ago.
When she saw the Lester, she asked what I was going to do with the gold one.
Congrats. That's downright beautiful. Obviously, I love Strats, and other guitars, but over the years I've developed a very simple philosophy: "Gotta have a Les Paul, too"....I just don't seem to last long without one, or two, ......or three, or....
I don't hate the GT but I'd love a Desertburst to match my Trad
Congrats! That’s a beautiful guitar. I haven’t had a chance to see one of the new Gibson’s. I have a 93 studio, but hope to own a Standard at some point.
I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, regardless of what it is
Beautiful guitar, congrats! A LP Standard has been on my wishlist for awhile...I need to start laying the groundwork to my fam that one of those would make a great 50th bday present!
