I bought a brand new Champion 40. When I got it I checked all the features and everything worked fine. Plugged in to it today and I'm not getting any sound.

The power light is on. All lights are working. Can switch channels, but no volume.

There is some static coming from it but that's all.

Brand new Fender cable. Checked connections, good.

What can I do to troubleshoot before contacting Fender?

    Thanks

Check to make sure your are plugged into the right spot ( it happens) . Check The channel select etc... And volumes etc...
Remove any pedals if any in the chain.
Try a different guitar or verify it on a different amp.
Try a different lead. Could be an intermittent fault.

Since its new take it back, or get a RA and sent it back to where you got it period!

Be happy it's gone wrong straight away. They usually wait until the day after the guarantee runs out.

Thanks for all of the quick responses!

I have a Fender acoustic electric which requires a 9V battery for the built in tuner. I had just put a cheapo battery in it so I didn't think to check it. Sitting here last night I thought about it, and when I checked it, it was dead! Turns out the battery is not just for the tuner. The guitar will not send a signal to the amp if it's dead either!

Hope my ignorance will help someone else! o_O

Glad you solved the power problem. I have had my Champion 40 for about 5 years now. No problems at all. I did take out the original speaker and install an Eminence Legend. Really like that sound.

We've all done something like that.
