In 1986, I bought this amp with my Bar Mitzvah money. In case you don't know, I was 13.

Together with a 2x12 cabinet and a 4x10 cabinet, it was taller than I was.

I don't know what I did and I'm sure it was stupid, cause I broke it almost immediately.

It hasn't worked in over 30 years.

I just got it back from my amp wizard (yes, there's one of those around here too) and I can't wait to plug it in after work. Video to follow:

    Great amps.

I owned and gigged the 100 watt Model 2555 (in black) for over a decade.

Cool, I'm glad you were wise enough to keep it and get it put back in working order. Hopefully you kept both of the cabinets too. Great choice, a big old roaring, rip-snorting Marshall.
I am looking forward to hearing it!

I know, you wanted to keep that time capsule and save it for 3 decades.
It is up and kicking and that are the great news.
Maybe the best amp Marshall ever made.
That is one of the rare ones, as well but you know that.

    Life is good,

I couldn't find an amp wizard around here.

    Before the internet, forget it.

One day, my guitar wizard told me about an amp guy he'd heard about and gave me his number.

Eventually, about 10 years ago, I was able to reach him and I dropped off the amp with him. I also dropped off my '68 Bandmaster head, which I got back a few years ago.

It took a while for him to get the right parts and to fix the Marshall head.

When I picked up the Marshall, I dropped of an early BF Vibro Champ...he said it won't take too long for him to go through it and replace the necessary parts.

    He's a real mad scientist.

I know you know your Marshalls

It is near mint condition. I took off the metal back plate (when I was a foolish teen) and I would love to replace it.

Next to my Marshall JTM-60 which I've always loved, the 2553 is pure warmth.
