I just scored a Fender Pro Jr. from the original owner today. It was made in the late 90's in the USA (Corona, Ca.) and is in near perfect shape, and still has the original Fender Tubes installed in it! Granted, this is a very basic amp, but if you want a "no frills", clear/unfiltered sound from your guitar, this is the amp for that. I actually bought it over the phone from the seller's description....the price was right and it was close by. It sounds great (even with the original tubes) and will get amazingly loud for such a small amp, and it only has one volume and one tone control, period. I have a fond memory of these amps and was really tickled to find this one!!

I've been told that the manufacturing of these amps is was moved to Mexico at some time after mine was built? Mine distinctively says "Manufactured in USA, Corona, Ca.". Does anyone know when Fender actually moved the manufacturing location of these things? No big deal, it's just a curiosity on my part.

My buddy at our local shop says I should put all new tubes in this amp and "upgrade" the speaker to a more "hi performance" brand. I don't know about that....it is 100% original, works perfectly and changing these items out would be an upgrade, but the amp would not be original anymore. Of course I could keep the original parts to return the amp back to stock, but why would I want to do that if it's OK as-is? Any opinions?

I’d leave it “as is”, especially if you like the way it sounds. Changing things out, like the speaker, will definitely change the sound of it.

HNAD! I have heard a lot about those amps and now you’ve ignited a case of GAS!
Time for you to go play and explore all the new tones you have!
