Dig this. I am. The entire LP.
Btw, can I leave my sleeping bag rolled up and stashed behind your couch?
Of course. Will you be staying long?
Not a fan.
They have some good tunes. Couldn't stand Jerry's shrill singing and playing though.
Also would never, ever go to a show of theirs - 4 hours long and 3 songs played.
You guys lost me.
Gentle On My Mind.
By way of ..John Hartford. He wrote it. The lyrics are pure poetry.
I like American Beauty quite a bit. That album is based on songs, so it’s a little more accessible. I absolutely hate their million minute drug jams. They are annoying to me. I really dislike Jerry; he was basically just a womanizing, drug and self abusing piece of crap. I do however have to admit he had a truly unique talent and way of expressing himself. I also think Bob Weir is an incredibly underrated guitarist. Bob has a chord for just about any situation. Great musician.
I think I might actually get more annoyed at Dead fans than the actual band. Credit card hippies, man. They are a breed all to their own.
When I was young we were metal heads (early 80’s, pre internet).
Never heard the Dead’s music but I was drawn to their name and skull imagery.
Very disappointed. Lol
(I got over it)
Written by Harry Nilsson...would have been 80 years olda this week.
Lost it's charm 30 years ago for me...took me another 10 before the weather and easy access to music just wasn't enough to counter the negatives and hold me there.
I wonder how many cover bands have been named "the Grateful Dads"?
you went to the ssme show twice? What were you on man?
We call them The Dreadful Greats.
They just, yeah, no.
Probably most of those who 'hate' 'hippies' were too young and missed out on the great times to be had in San Francisco during those days.....I grew up there. Nothing like it has happened since, and they can't stand it.
I tried but it puts me to sleep ..
