To the question, I would go with notched. I palm mute a lot and while I've never used an un-notched bridge, I would imagine there could be some movement of the string over time. Perhaps not but I also doubt there would be much difference in the length of time the string rings over an un-notched bridge...assuming strings ringing for several bars is important to you.

Having no notches causes the string potentially roll across the saddle when you bend a string.

I understand, and I believe the severity of that depends on the angle of the strings going into the tail piece.
In nay case notched would be better, but I'm going to try it un-notched first for giggles.

Why is this even a question? Without notches, strumming and/or bending will cause the strings to slide laterally across their saddles until they reach escape velocity and leave the saddle. Duh.

I prefer buying them un-notched and doing it myself. However "notched" could be bad if you put deep grooves. There's a difference.

Now that tonewood is fading out, tonenotches are quickly becoming a thing. :D

Rather have the saddles rounded off on an LP than notched, I hate that sharp break angle. Notched enough to hold the string in place when bending and that's it. I prefer unnotched saddles, I string em once then when those strings are old I lightly tap them into the saddle with something hard and then put on a fresh set, done. This way you can easily set the string placement yourself, and as a bonus there is no recessed groove so palm muting is actually easier, especially on the high strings. Your palm sits directly on the string with no interference.

My SG cheats - it has roller saddles instead. Not notched per se, but I like the fact that it has adjustable string spacing, too!

I notched the saddles on my 3 saddle Tele when I had it - otherwise the string kept catching on the height adjustment screw, which was a pain.

    Strats? No need for notching.

My saddles were notched from the factory on the 66 DLX Plus Gold top and seem to work great. Just like everything on that guitar.

You can adjust the break angle by raising the tail piece.

Tension keeps that from happening, unless you're a powerful player and really wang-a-doodle on the strings.
