Have been trying out a few new pedals. This just arrived, my first tube screamer. Excited to try it out!
Tomorrow my new amp arrives: a Fender 64 Custom Princeton Reverb. Like Xmas in July! IMG_20200729_144929.jpg

It took me over 40 years to finally getting around to one of those. Best thing to come out of Japan since Godzilla

Awesome! Classic pedal. I also got two new pedals today! The Bassman pedal is out of production and I got it at a great price!

Dude pair the SD1 with this for godly tones.

I like going SD1->TS but try both and see what fits best.

No such thing as a perfect OD. Best to combine and stack for best results.

I've tried tubescreamers over the years and never really bonded much with them. And then a couple months ago I tried one and it sort of clicked. I fell in love with it. I was pairing it with a couple other OD pedals and doing OK with that approach, but then I started hearing about a number of player who just combined two of them. Somebody mentioned the Double Trouble, a pedal made by Visual Sound (now Truetone) that's basically two 808 TS circuits side by side, with a couple of bass boost switches to give them more low end. SRV was one of the guys who used to pair two of them so I guess they developed and named this pedal with him in mind. This pedal hasn't been made in about five years, but they're were a few on Reverb in the $80-100 range and I bought one. So now I have effectively two tube screamers and I run a clean boost after them as mostly a volume control when I switch between guitars. The boost is always on and kind of sets the base volume as I switch guitars. One of the TS circuits is really light gain, barely edge of breakup, the other is a good solid over-driven lead sound, and running the two together gets me into pretty meaty gain territory and when the "screamer" part enters the picture. I rarely touch the bass boost, but every now and then I'll kick it on in the heavier lead side. It's a great pedal - I'm glad I found it while they're still easily found. I have a few other OD pedals laying around, but I don't know when or if I'll use them again.

    Congrats!

I got my TS-909DX (Analog man modified time 808 specs) many years ago and like others, never bonded with it. It never gave me what I was looking.

Then I got my Super Reverb and tried it for ****s and giggles. It instantly gave me the tone I had been longing for so many years. I then understood why so many people swear by them. The amp definitely has to be turned up enough to be breaking up slightly, then the TS adds some hair. I like how it cuts the bass and highs slightly. I bet it will sound killer with your Princeton...

Congratulations, a Tubescreamer is a good pedal with a Fender amp.

I love everything about Boss pedals to be honest. I like the shape, design, tone, price. Sometimes they have a bad reputation and I don't know why. They are really great pedals.

I don't know if others have suggested it, but using it as a clean boost is a wonderful thing. That's what I do with my Vox.

Then I might add a little grit if I want to use it on something like a Princeton.
