Before...and after....the look isn't for everyone, but I love it.....I prefer red tort to brown....
Looks pretty cool. How much of a difference do you think humbucker covers make in the sound?
There is no cover on my humbucker.....I have no idea how they affect sound lol
I have covered ones in my 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Standard 50s, love the sound of them too....
A definite improvement.
Both look good to me, though I think the second would look even better with a double cream bucker.
Looks great. I love tortoise shell.
Really influences the change
I would, but it came with an upgraded DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion, I don't feel like spending $80 US plus shipping to Canada to replace it - but I agree it would complete the look...
This is a compromise...
I made a similar compromise on my 2020 Fender Duo Sonic HS build. The bridge humbucker is an awesome Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates "zebra coiled" pickup, which (imo) would look decidedly better on this guitar if both coils were cream - but I love how it sounds so much I'd never dare replace it just for aesthetic reasons (I've had this pickup in various guitars for over 23 years!)...
I'm STILL wishing I didn't choose this zebra bull****. Looked great on the net but now I wish it was just all cream.
Zebra can actually look cool if you have a matching neck pickup and/or a black pickguard...
yeah but that's a completely different story...nice
There are some long threads on that. Don't want to divert the OP's thread of his fabulously redone guitar... but the general consensus is that it cuts some amount of treble. However, if you go with a plastic cover instead of an original metal one, there will be no effect. There are also some metals that have less of an impact.
I've never seen results graphed for scientific analysis, but they are probably out there.
It's too bad this didn't happen last week. I had a Zebra (Cream/Black) DP100 for sale and I just sold it last week to a guy in Edmonton for CAN$80. I think it's entirely possible the zebra might be even better looking than all cream.
interesting. so i could put a matching cream.
Yes! The red tort looks great on this guitar, nicely done!
Very nice GM.
Looks great! I like the black humbucker. Gives it a hot-rodded look
