So my awesome wife ,on a whim, decided to buy me a pickup. Mind you, she has no idea what a pickup is or does (other than its something for a guitar), but saw a Seymour Duncan Custom (TB5) in my Amazon wish-list and decided just buy it for me. Kinda like buying flowers for someone just to be nice :)

Anyway, I just got it soldered in to my ESP strat and I gotta say, it sounds pretty sweet. It replaced a Custom 5 (TB14) which is the exact same pickup just with an A5 magnet instead of the Custom's ceramic magnet (I didn't have the heart to tell her she could have just bought me a magnet ;)). My first thoughts are that its a little brighter and not so "vintage-y" if that makes any sense.

I tried a yamaha pacifica 611 a while back, and the one thing I liked about it was the Custom 5 in the bridge position. Sounded fantastic with gain. Unfortunately the thin frets and narrower fret board width didn't appeal to me. Congrats on your new pup BTW.

Thanks for the tip. I just added a Les Paul Standard to my Amazon wishlist.

    Congrats.

Looks awesome... and that's a nice workbench too. I have to do stuff on the kitchen table and hope my boy didn't steal my tools
