Well, it's crazy how much you can forget in a couple years. A little over 2 1/2 years ago, when I had my TKR (replacement) done i forgot about how my entire leg turned black and blue for a month due to all of the muscular bruising that happens during that surgery. Not to mention the tenderness that's associated with it. This time with the new TKR (revision), no bruising has surfaced but the tenderness is very much a reality through the calf muscle. I can't tell if the deep ache in my thigh is from the muscle or the fractured bone...either way, I still can't manage to get much sleep without some narcotic influence. I did, however, get to make it into my studio to play for a short stint. After almost 20 minutes I was so wasted that I almost couldn't make it back to the couch due to both the aching and just being tired. Keep in mind that I can't stand and play so i needed my stool then crutches to get back to the couch. I still got some fretboard time in though...greatful for that. We will see if I can pull it off again tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Congrats on completing the journey to your studio. Hope each day brings you less pain and more studio time. Happy New knee day to you
The last three times that the home health PT came in to work my leg over we took some measurements. On day 1 which was 4 days out of surgery and my second full day home I could straighten my knee to 18° and I could flex it to 83°. Yesterday was 15° and 89°. Today, while all but wetting my drawers, I was able to make it to 11° and 93°. So according to the physical terrorist I am about 2 weeks ahead of schedule for a Revision recipient and 1 week ahead of a Replacement recipient. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
@Mansonine here's a little something to practice. [emoji444][emoji450][emoji445] @Bodean, I guess I'm not getting a wheelchair this time so what do you recommend for crutches? Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
My last captain at work, who just retired 4 days before this procedure, had both of his done within a couple weeks of each other. I don't think I would ever try a stunt like that. I'm no punk when it comes to dealing with pain but that's a whole different kind of insanity. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Yesterday when the terrorist came over for more PT, i was able to straighten to -10°. That may be little but its some progress from -11° the previous day. The flexion, on the other hand, was substantially more...from 93° to 101°. It's safe to say that I was all but in tears at that point but I really don't want to have to play catch up later because I can't put any weight on it. I still have 11 days befire the suturea come out but I did change the Aquacell dressing on the 4th. Now it's a real balancing act to push it without putting too much pressure on it. Plus I was able to make it to the bedroom so I could sleep on my bed. For the first time I didnt wake up in enough pain to need another narc. Progress is happening but patience really is not one of my best qualities. I am so thankful for Mrs. Believer who has been there with me, keeping me motivated yet reigned in.
