It's made by Fender. It kinda looks like one of those banjitars or guitarjos, but it only has 5 strings. The good news is, it's strung Keef style!

I've wanted to try a banjo ever since I read a thread in which Keith Richards was called a "closet banjo player." I finally found one with the right price tag.

We'll see how this experiment turns out!

I love a well played banjo, but there are so many jokes about tuning them (because the bridge floats on a drum head) that I think it takes real dedication to get it right.

    Go for it!

    On the edge, baby!
I bought a fender banjo several years back. Still have it for "some day". I figured I'd learn by ear but I bought a book that came with a DVD just in case and I'm glad I did. Having that high pitched string at the top really screws with a guitar player. And then there's the "rolls" that you need to learn and I'm not a finger picker. I really recommend a book.
    This guy's stuff is great:

He had me mangling Cripple Creek in no time. I had to give it up after I was arrested for inciting a hoedown.

Some people find things other than bluegrass to play on them.
