For once they actually do have a tool option that is cheaper than the competitors and it works exactly the same. But their Stainless Steel rated Tang nippers only go to 0.110 (2.79mm) width crowns and I need the one that goes to 0.118 (2.99mm). Even though StewMac says you can trim any size fret with them. It might trim any size they sell sure enough but not any size. They forgot to include the "they sell" part and got me all excited that I could get what I am needing about $30 cheaper but...alas, they let me down again. LOL

No. The biggest they sell is .110. The problem I had was that they said theirs would work on all sizes but it clearly does not.

Well, it works with all theirs (and in their little world nothing else exists).

My problem with (beef)stewmac is they attempt to make extra money on their shipping prices which actually makes the prices of their stuff even higher than what they advertise them at.... having said that, they have some really cool stuff, but I refuse to buy from them due to the shipping costs.

I agree completely. The only reason I was considering this is because their cost, even after their ridiculous shipping charge would have been almost $25 less than the one that will work for me. Plus, it comes with both guide plates and the other one appears to only come with one. I will need to buy the other two seperately.

Add import duties and taxes... It would be cheaper to have my brother-in-law's company make proper tools for me.

I avoid Stew-Mac at all costs. They really got my goat when I was WORKING for a manufacturer in the early 2000's and I couldn't get a break from them even when trying to get fret wire or dyes in bulk. No wonder Dave Bunker (RIP) always made me deal with them. Love & miss you big guy!

Their shipping is pricey, innit? Makes you want to spend less, below $75.

Is pretty easy to spend $150+, especially with their tools.

The thing that gets me is that when you order from them through either eBay or Amazon they advertise as free shipping. Then when you do the math it is exactly the same price as if you buy from the website and pay the shipping. So it is NOT free shipping.

Stew Mac can be annoying, but I'm finding that, generally, when Amazon Prime sez a thing will be delivered by a certain date, they are generally right on, or very close.

OTOH, there are some products on Amazon, who refuse to work in Prime guidelines. needless to say, not very enthusiastic about those guys. But Prime is working out far better than I had ever imagined. IME, UPS, Fed-Up, and USPS can't hold a candle to them.

That's eBay. They attack all sellers with higher shipping rates, but they don't attack high prices.
