    That would be me!
And thanks @Deafsoundguy for explaining it better than I can. Our lead guitar player is almost always the loudest person on stage. I do most of the singing and play rhythm guitar.
And I don't otherwise mess with pedals much or play around with my volume. If I'm doing an arpeggio or a few softly-struck notes I still need to be heard.

It's a close tie between my 808 and a delay pedal. Honestly, if I can keep my Strat and my SR, I'll take the 808 to the grave.

Set shame to minimum, innocence to maximum, and I prefer the drummer setting personally....

Oh man...thanks. I was hoping SOMEONE would say UniVibe... if you don’t like Robin Trower I’ll eat my hat.

    I have an alternative idea.

    One effect unit, huh?

    OK -

My Zoom G5n! It's a "single effects unit"!

Fail. The requirement is one single pedal - one effect and you only get 20 sq inches of space... and no fair standing it on end.. :thumbd:

But hey those are a lot more practical at least...

    OK...busted...

I'd need an overdrive of one of the typical sort...like a Soul food.

It's the same "if" from the original question: "If you only get one effect for the rest of your life..." And what I meant by it was, I'd only take the 808 with me if I had the Super. Otherwise, there would be other pedals. The 808 works particularly well with the SR.

    Catalinbread Belle Epoch pedal.
If it wasn't so big and heavy and finicky, i'd choose an EP-3 Echoplex.
That, and a decent small wattage tube amp, anywhere between a tweed Champ and a blackface Deluxe Reverb
would get me about 80=90% of the sounds i normally use anyhow.
