I saw 2 concerts on Sling this weekend. One was Bad Company. Boring! Paul Rodgers has a great voice but it wasn't enough to overcome the lack of energy and change of tempo in this show. Most songs had a couple of verses, guitarist would take about 6 steps forward, play a couple of licks, take 6 steps backwards and finish the song. I think I dozed off a couple of times during the show. Then I saw a John Fogerty concert. WOW! I was expecting a bunch of old CCR tunes played with just cowboy chords. What I got was some good old rock and roll. Excellent show. Fogerty has got some chops! I read somewhere that he gets up early every day to practice guitar for 2 hours. If you get the Axis channel on your cable system, I highly recommend this one.
I saw a recent Bad Co concert on either Prime or Tubi. I had the same impression. Sounded and looked great. But no real energy and tempo never varied. In person I'm sure it was better but on TV it wasn't all that impressive Almost the same with a recent ZZ Topp show. The was great, the stage show itself was good. An all around well put together show but the performance was flat. Not sloppy or anything, just not inspired
I watch axis tv a lot. Great stuff. I recently saw a Tom Petty concert.... that was incredible. I have seen John fogerty and dude can play! His voice usually steals the show, but his guitar chops are pretty damn good too.
I saw the Petty concert as well. Excellent! For those who can stream, Stratoman10 mentioned Tubi. Lots of content. Lots of music stuff. It's free...So check it out!
Has Mick bounced back from his stroke? I figured that he would hang it up after that. Got to meet him back stage when they played Hollywood House of Blues.
