I have much to say on this subject...

I won't though, instead I'll post this old footage of @Guy Named Sue

Without getting too far into the weeds, we only lack agency when we surrender it. I'd elaborate but that lock will come if I do.

It was the Charles Manson thread and no it's not still up but it didn't get taken down due to the WTFs. We WTF'd a bunch on that thread.

    Deletions can be pretty unpredictable.
Often it isn't a matter the content being truly unsuitable.
Just a matter of someone being triggered and reporting it.

And yet another reason why after even 20,000 + posts I will no longer support that site and haven't for quite awhile. Much like here it's a forum for adult musicians not a grammar school level Bible Camp. IMHO moderation here is excellent by the way. Think I'll kick back and stay awhile. :D

Moderation on TDPRI is about as consistent as Colorado weather and when I called them out over some of it long ago I got a weeks vacation. Apparently a right to openly speak one's mind even in a private PM is not permitted. So upon my return I rather forced my own departure but this time not in private.:sneaky:

And TDPRI is not alone. On another site when I question why a post had been edited without explanation I got a warning that I was harassing the moderator. Gimme a flippin' break. If ya' wanna be a forum cop then be prepared to be questioned and periodically take some flack just as other mods and admin do.

How can anyone avoid breaking a subjectively interpreted rule if you don't know how you broke it to begin with. One mod will say you didn't but another will say you did. Moderation must avoid gross discrimination even in a private forum because the internet is a public communication medium.

If you think a gear forum is bad then become a moderator for a sports forum as I have been twice in forums I began. During Packer vs Bears week it's like trying to swat at a hive of angry hornets. Bear Fur and Beer Cheese are flying all hell west and crooked for two solid weeks because it's one week before to insult each other and another after for bragging rights.

    It's hopeless. LOL
