Does anyone have experience with Fender's MIM Roadhouse Strat, apparently produced between 2007 and 2014? I'm trying to do some research online and it's confusing because there appear to be different runs of these guitars (including at least one made in the U.S.).

The one I'm looking at has a smaller headstock, not the big 70s looking one. Serial number lookup says it a Roadhouse Strat from between '07 and '14. I am having trouble nailing down the specs.

I would appreciate any input (no pun intended) on these guitars, to get a better idea if I should take the drive to check this one out. Thank you!

I've owned a bunch of them and really like them. I prefer them over the current, big headstock model.

There is one for sale locally, guy says it's in like-new shape. I can probably bring it home for $300.

    What did they cost new?

I had a 2013 for a couple years. Really nice neck and I liked the pickups.
I bought mine new for 599....300 is a steal.
I sold mine to a friend as his first fender to get him in the fold of playing fender.
    wish I still had mine

Mine was arctic white....black and sunburst were other color options.
    What color is this one?

It's Sunburst with a tortoise guard and maple neck. Looks exactly like the pic above from the Fender website.

That's the only part that's kind of a bummer - I just bought another Strat and it's the same color.

Yes, lots to be confused with. It depends on the *exact* (exact wording dependent) model you refer to. Guitarmageddon's link to a "Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster". Model years 2014 and 2015.

I have one in Vintage White. I absolutely love it. I think it is one of the best MIM models made to date. Right up there with the MIAs. My one and only complaint, and it is more of an observation than complaint is the poly finish makes it look like it is encased in plastic. But really doesn't mean anything. It does everything a Strat is supposed to do. I paid $385 for brand new on closeout not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised.
(FWIW, that $599 .99 was the street price too.)

I never buy anything new but for $300 I'd be all over it.

Right, that's where it gets confusing. The one for sale near me doesn't have a battery-operated preamp or additional switching function on the knobs, according to the seller. He says it's basically just a straightforward MIM Strat. That leads me to believe it's the one @Guitarmageddon linked to.

Still seems like a good deal, though: A vintage(ish)-spec'd Strat with Texas Specials for 300 bucks. If it was vintage white I would have already bought it.

Trouble is, those spec are put together on a non-Fender site. And they appear to me to have a bunch of jumbled up specs. I personally would not take it to the bank (almost literally here).
It makes a huge difference whether or not it has the Texas Special pups. It appears that the 2012-2013 model have the Texas Specials, but not all of the extra electronics as you say.
Do some catalog searching to get some specific answers.

    Hi,

I have one (the same from the pic) and had the same issue with the model. What I know is that "Roadhouse Stratocaster" (no switch) was made since 2007 till 2014. And then, updated to "Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster" (with the switch thingy).

Check this site: https://www.fuzzfaced.net/stratocaster-modelli-e-cronologia.html (it belongs to an italian guy but it's in English) and go to "Deluxe Series Mexico", you'll find the links to both models' specs.

Now, I bought it in 2015 at the biggest music store in the country (which may look like a pawn shop in the US, sadly) at a "huge" sale. I got it with 50% off and cost me about 1 200 PEN, like US$380 at that time.
(Yeah, original price was like $700).

It has a really nice Fender tone, specially position 2 and 4. I don't like too much this modern configurations so a classic Strat without switch thingy and humbuckers get going for me.
I'd say you can buy it, you won't regret.

    Cheers

Here's my 2013 that I sold several years ago.
Nice neck on it, Texas Specials pickups were not too hot, not too cold, just right. ;)

    Hi there !

Actual owner of a sunburst MIM Roadhouse from 2007 too ! Very good guitar, awesome neck, nice body... really good with Curt Mangan 11-48 strings in my opinion !
I like the texas pickups but I need some changes, and I am really personaly attached to this instrument, so rather than buy another one I have decided to do some transformations on it... bridge and tremolo from Callaham, vintage tuners from Callaham, Mark Foley 59 reserve V2 pickups, second tone pot for the bridge pickup with an open middle pickup, .1mF capacitor. I can’t wait to start assembling this « new » guitar !

Anyway, this Roadhouse 2007-2014 is a beautiful serie, to buy with eyes closed no doubt about it !!!

Thanks, I appreciate the firsthand experience (though it sounds like yours is a different guitar at this point).

I am going to check it out tomorrow.
