    Hi all!

As a beginner, I want to buy an amp. I have a multi-fx.
It's between orange crush 20 and champion 20.
I play pop, rock, hard rock and metal.
Actually everything except jazz and blues.

    I also made a poll.

    thank you!!!

If you already have your own multi fx and don't want to use the Champion's built in effects / voicings etc....the choice is right in your face......

Orange.....if you don't use pedals or other effects.....the choice is the Champion.....

I would look at the version just above this one as a beginner amp, the crush 35 and champion 40. You're much more into a serious/affordable amp with bigger speakers and better options.

anyway, in both cases, the Crush series kills it for anything from hard rock and above.

the Champion will bring you more familiar tones in the lower gain settings and is pretty decent at doing the metal thing.

i would pick the Orange myself as they are very solid amps, the 35 version is actually stage ready.

I've got a Champ 20 and it's been a great amp for the hundred bucks I paid for it. I know nothing about the Orange, but I've never heard anything bad about them.

The Crush for sure. Or better yet, Find a used Crush 35. You will love it.

I wouldn't buy an amp with an 8" speaker. I would go minimum 10" and really 12" is the way to go.
Get used if you want to save some $$ Good luck and have fun playing.

I agree to some extent, but keep in mind that Orange's 8 inch 'voice of the world' speaker is built like a tank with a huge magnet and sounds better than any other 8 inch on the market.....just one man's opinion.....

    I have the Orange 20RT....

Champion 40 used if you can afford it. I had one and it was a very good amp for the money imo.

The Champion 20 is going to be the more versatile of the 2 with Amp models. With the Orange, you better love the Orange clean & dirty sound, because that's what it is & does. There's also a Mustang I V2 20W for the closed back vs the Champion's open back.

I had an orange crush 20, and did not like it at all. Now few years later went the AC30 head and now done.

I have a Crush 20RT in three different rooms in my house. There is no effects loop so you may consider a 35 if you want to utilize a pedal chain but I love the tone of the Orange Crush series. Of course I am a perennial beginner.
