Anyone here got long hair (again or for the first time) due to the pandemic? I kept my mane. Same as before. About late 60s - Early 70s sideburns and enough hair to tuck behind the ears even though I got a formal day job. How did the pandemic affect you hairwise?
I wasn't allowed to keep it where I work. They did loosen the noose on the rule a little but not much. Thankfully I had an extra pair of Andes dog clippers, one if my wife's make-up mirrors and full range of motion in my shoulders.
Haven’t cut my hair since June 2019. Had surgery that didn’t go as planned and I told myself that I wouldn’t cut my hair until I’m back to work. Here we are and I’m still not back to work and it looks like I’ll be off for a while more. “Long haired hippy dad” is what I’m called by my kids.
That’ll work too, my employer won’t care at all. I’ve just never had long hair in my life and I’m not sure about it.
It just depends on how you like it. Me, I was born in the 70s and never wanted to leave that decade, so I keep my hair likewise.
I was born in ‘74, my dad was in the military and I was raised with short hair and military obedience. I can do what I want now and I would still have a difficult time going to work with long hair even though my employer wouldn’t care and there is no stigma about it at all. Weird hey? It’s just be engrained in me for so long. Hahaha.
I was lucky enough, I could have my hair anyway I wanted, maybe due to the fact that my family was quite heterogeneous: I had communist/hippie activists and army officers as uncles and parents. I never had a single pattern to follow.
Went from getting it cut every 4 weeks to every 4 months. Got it cut in September and it driving me crazy now. The numbers in Chicago have been bad for a while, but a haircut is one of the first things on the list when things improve.
I bought clippers months ago. The first haircut was my wife's fine work, but I realised I could do it myself if I used the correct number guides. 'Self drive' haircuts aren't too difficult with clippers, apart from round the ears. Also, getting that 'fresh from the barbers' clean neck look takes a fair bit of practice and a razor. My hair looks OK, I've kept myself safe (hopefully) and I've saved a lot more of haircuts than I spent on the clippers.
Had long hair. Got covid and it started falling out. Shaved my head completely. Been letting it grow back from there.
That doesn’t seem like common effect from COVID. Must have been really unpleasant. What else did you experience? I think that I had it about a year ago. Took a long time to get over the shortness of breath issue. It wasn’t bad but it was there.
I haven’t had a haircut since March. I am THIS close to having a pony tail. I’m kinda digging it. It’s almost like it was in my 20s. (I’m 57.) So, I kinda look like I did in my 20s. Except for all the grey hair. And the bald spot. And the thinning bit in the front. And the extra 60 pounds. Aaaaannddd now I’m depressed.
I've been bald on the top for almost 20 years, and I have been buzzing off the sides and my beard myself for most of that, takes ten minutes once a month. I quit going to a gorgeous woman "stylist" when the price of a haircut went up to $20. I bought the clipper kit, and it paid for itself after two cuts, everything since has been free. I do miss seeing that stylist and having her rub my head, though.
I haven’t had a haircut since January of 2020. That was my last crew cut. I now have hair that is an inch past my shoulders. I’m not going to get it cut again until this pandemic is over.
I got it pretty bad. I was hospitalized over it and had to have plasma and a remdesivir treatment. It may have been an effect of the meds. I was told the hair loss could last up to 4 months. I was getting tired of it falling out into my food and stuff. My hair was little past shoulder length when I shaved my head bald. It's been growing back fine and hasn't fell out since. Definitely still got that shortness of breath issue a bit, but I'm getting stronger all the time. But i wound up with pretty much every symptom. Come to find out some people, like me, experiences hair loss afterwards. I'm not entirely sure why.
Last haircut was in 2015. Just a waste I money I tell ya, Stuff keeps growing back, might as well let it
Man, that's rough. With all that, hair sure doesn't seem that important any more. I'm glad you're on the mend.
