That's the optimist's way of looking at it. A national food- and water shortage with no electricity or heat, no transportation and no presence of law enforcement or healthcare services.... I can only hope we would come togetjer but I fear the opposite would be the case. Civilization is thin, it only really works as long as we're all warm and happy with our bellies full.

I apologize for any nasty behaviour on my part, and hope we can continue to disagree about facebook in a less personal but equally engaging way.

    True. All true.
As a measure of readiness, I think it should be mandatory that all western nations go one full week/per year, without any internet. None. Zero. Everyone too. Especially emergency services, hospitals, power grids, communications systems.... total internet blackout for one full week per year. The catch? Nobody knows which week of the year.

We rely too heavily on our technology.

Wtf did people do back in the 60s, 70s and 80s?

We need to be able to, at least temporarily, survive without the internet.

Use the phone to make calls.
Write stuff down with a pen.
    Send a fax.
    Mail a letter.
Holy f#$k we are screwed if the grid goes down.

Finally I thought you were going to have a positive post, you even said positive which I think may have ruined your keyboard?

Then you had to bad mouth someone. Glass half empty type guy. Then a user name of dream dancer? Huh? Dream destroyer, bad dream, those could be a good fit. Spoiled brats on Facebook, Facebook is what you make it, your friends. If you’re looking at spoiled brats you went there yourself. Unless you’re talking about family members, I really don’t know.

Yeah so FB happens to be very useful for me personally. I don't mind if you don't but you are missing a lot of hilarity that is exchanged along the way.

Eh... I'm not sure about this actually.
I mean, yes, in the most technical sense, you are not forced to be involved with any negativity on fb, but let's be realistic about it.
Facepage is responsible for lighting the match and fanning the flames of much of that negativity.
It sends targeted content to specific people to do just that.
If you are a conservative, you will see articles about how bad liberals are, and all of the terrible things they are doing to destroy your life.
If you are a liberal, Facebook will target you with content explaining just how awful the conservatives are, and how they alone are ruining the world.

So yes, I think Facebook has plenty of blame to own up too.

I'd probably be at Guitar Center asking people about tone wood.

Articles posted by whom? Any articles I see on Facebook tend to be from posts by my friends & family. And again, it's your choosing who you interact with and how you interact with them.

I've tended to mentally tune out ads I see, so maybe I'm largely unaware of anything Facebook itself is putting out there. I also use an ad blocker, so perhaps there are some things I'm just not seeing.

....but FB doesn't create that content, those views. It's like blaming the megaphone for what an idiot is shouting.
