^^ Exactly.. I think he meant we're all Catholic in the loss much like when Paris was attacked we were all French or the world was all American on 9/11.

Watch out ! In France a church doesn't belong to the Catholics, but to the people !

We have a very different way to look at religion and religious buildings compared to the US.

Indeed you are correct. Thanks for that reminder and —hopefully— thread re-direction. :)

Watching the news this morning. It appears they will be able to rebuild it.

I get that but Irish is a nationality, not a religion and therefore not a violation of the rules.

I disagree completely - trying to force an opinion of religion on others is against the rules, but this is a CATHOLIC CHURCH that burned down. By your stance, since it involved religion, no thread or post should have ever happened in the first place, because it concerns a religious church. How is this logical?

Again, it belongs to the french people, not to the Vatican !

Anyway, I'm so glad it will be rebuilt. That's the way History unfolds...

Notre Dame Cathedral was built by Catholics (how many years ago?) ...I pray it never gets "white washed" or turned into a cold museum...

The rules say discussions about religion are off limits. Not mentioning it or it's buildings. It had been stated several times already in the thread that this was a Catholic Church as well as that it was a National Treasure to the French. His comment IMO brought up the actual beliefs of Christians and that is where the line was crossed. It would have been better if he just said we are all French today if he wanted to imply solidarity because like has been said several time sit belongs to the French People and not the Catholic Church or Vatican.

Oh and I am very glad the majority of Notre Dame was saved. It would have been a terrible loss if it had been completely destroyed. I have already donated to the rebuilding fund and hope to one day actually go visit in person this wonder of architecture and design.

This entire forum has become ridiculous. The thread about the Fender logo on the Squier is now gone too, which is stupid. I've been a member of this forum since 2013, and it was NEVER like this before the last year or so. It's as if we're not allowed to express ourselves. I'm liking this place less and less by the day.

The building took over 200 years to build and it is over 800 years old .
Show some respect for it and its historical contribution to the world please .

I’m so sorry! I think it was one of the first places I put on my list of recommendations for you (even though I know it’s on pretty much everyone’s Paris to-do list...) :(

    Are you serious ?

Ironically I was making a reference to a french comic piece shot in front of the cathedral on a boat. So yeah, I know that the cathedral may have some cultural significance... Thank you for the heads-up though.

sorry for bringing up a church burning that has been around since long before any of your family has been walking this planet

    this IS NOT about religion...

this is about the WORLD losing a building that was considered a treasure.

    dont like religion? thats fine...

but come on.. look at that place.. how could anyone with a mind not look at a building like that and just think wow... man kind can do some pretty amazing stuff when folks devote their life to a craft

I figured as musicians that connection would have been a given

    shame..
