It’s not necessarily, but it is a point that could be made by the stones in this discussion.

They were broken up for a decade by then, but had Lennon not been murdered I’m pretty sure they would have reformed in some way during the 90’s.

Good point! This fake rivalry has existed since 1964 and is silly because these are the two biggest bands in the history of the planet both with giant catalogs of great songs that only they could write that have stood the test of time. It’s like earth and Mars in a debate as to who can orbit the sun better.

I completely agree with this statement. Paul and John almost made an appearance on Saturday Night Live together years ago. John was starting to fire back up his creative engines before being gunned down. George would have been the hardest hold out, but Lennon had a way of convincing George through out the years.

Yoko didn’t have the power to break up the Beatles, she was just an annoyance to the others.

John was done with the Beatles and he had made that clear to the rest. Paul was the one member that was always all in, actually trying to keep them together. He loved the band and it was his life. He has repeatedly said that he was devastated by the break up. Paul went into a deep depression for quite a while after the break up. Paul praises John as the greatest songwriter that he has ever had the privilege to work with and that he misses him greatly every day.

There are LOTs of books that have been written on these subjects. Probably the most documented band of all time.

And yes, John was no saint.

Where would the the music of the Blues be in the world if The Rolling Stones early albums didn’t exist. That is what got most of us jacked on the Blues. They are still my favorites! The early Beatle “covers” were like My Bonnie lies over the Ocean, Chains and other dumb songs. Sir Paul, keep rocking your silly little love songs.

I love the Stones, lots of great songs, and incredible in person. Unfortunately, I only got to see them once. In the Orange Bowl, of all places. Not the greatest for sound. IMHO, the Beatles were on a whole different level. They changed the world.

Mickey Dolence, wrote and played the intro riff to gimme shelter. A great song by the way.
